Unique Paintings - how to ?
So, I've managed to make a bunch of unique paintings, and I am wondering how many there are, and what the best way to make them is.

What I've done so far, is that using the level 3 painting skill - fevered imagination is it ?, and using four passion on it, and choosing to make a portrait of one of my disciples, and using a special paint that matches their aspect - i.e. a lantern pigment with a lantern disciple, a forge pigment with a forge disciple etc.

This seems to always make one of the unique paintings, matching the aspect of the disciple.

But I'm wondering if there's a different way to do it, because I am finding that the special pigments seem quite difficult to obtain.

Would painting using a sufficiently high lore of the aspect you want, would that work in creating the unique painting for that aspect ? Or is the relevant pigment absolutely necessary ?

One painting per lore. You can't recreate one you've already done.

Paint with lore as inspiration and use an ingredient associated with that lore to make the painting.

all painting have 8 lore aspect.

Esurnir sure fire recipe for it :
1) make sure your skill level is maxed out
2) paint using 4 passion
3) paint a subject / lore that's something like 4/5+ of the aspect?
4) use an ingredient paint of the aspect
5) lament there's no secret history paint to get the uber secret fanfic tool.
6) NEVER LET ANYONE SEE IT.

what makes zero sense is that you say "I can never show anyone this" and you keep it. But it still generates noteriety (2) even as the flavor text sort of suggests it should not.

There are 8 obtainable paintings (secret histories exists but there's no matching pigment). You need the pigment in order to paint it, and they're unique so you can't paint more than one of each even if you lose it.

I haven't tested it personally, but someone said that 3 passion will work. 4 Aspect + pigment works, I don't think 2 Aspect works.

Reshapers can make pigments for you, so for those wanting to work through all the permuations a Forge cult is probably easiest.

I'm not at home atm, so can't double check this, but I believe only 6 of the pigments are available from that deck. Also, Knock, Winter, and Moth all draw from that deck for their cult action meaning they can generate them too.

Are you sure on Winter? I don't recall ever getting a Pigment on murdering a stranger, just cash. But maybe I didn't kill enough randos...

Just tested with an winter Exalted, did produce a Pigment on the fourth try. They all use the Wages of Sin deck. Forge is slightly better, imo, due to no generating notoriety, but both knock and moth will bring back 1 funds in addition to the 2 deck draws, and winter brings back a corpse.

Also, I was right, only 6 of the pigments are available though this method. Lantern and Winter aren't in that deck and have to be gotten from Expeditions.

Speaking to a Cultist about your Cult will allow them to perform Cult Business, which varies based on the Aspect of the Cultist. Knock, Forge, Winter, and Moth make/acquire things such as funds, spintria, and pigments.

Reshaper is the unique name (IIRC) of the Forge Exalted. Non-exalted cultists can engage in these activities, but there are sometimes negative consequences.

Good to know about Winter drawing from the same deck. I guess I was insufficiently Winter-ish and was turned off by the header “murder a stranger.”
