Do they give bonus when recruiting/promoting followers ? or is it just a waste of ressource

Timeslice is incorrect. Trappings do not affect the stats the follower gains. It seems to be random, or set by the follower card possibly.

When you go to upgrade a follower it tells you what level of aspect your cult's main aspect must be in order to upgrade them. I believe it goes 2 -> 7 -> 21 (it may be 2 -> 7 -> 8 for regular pawns). The amount of aspect is additive from the follower, lore, and trappings, so it is easier to raise a follower who has the same aspect as your cult over one that has a conflicting aspect.

They give the follower the stats of what you put in there. Use influence or tools, don't use your main stats.

I just assumed if your Knowledge wasn't high enough you could use Trappings to push the number over to what you need.

Worth noting for other readers that even if you manage to gather 21 aspect: You can only promote followers with the same aspect as your cult a second time. (Getting aspect 10)
Other followers can only achieve 5 of their aspect. (Unless they get a scar related to their aspect)
