Which Cult has the most "flavor"?
So, bit of a weird question.

I've been... floundering around with the game for about twenty hours now (I think I'm working toward a Power victory, but... who can say?). I'm loving it so far, especially all of the little lore entries, though I feel like my cult (Forge aspect) kind of lacks in that (I can craft stuff, but that's about it).

I was wondering which cults, in your opinions, had the most 'flavor' to them. Because it seems like you're not really locked out of particular things (Since you can collect as much influence of as much lore as you want) outside of promoting people).

After finishing up the Unflinching Order, I'm looking at either the Wildwood Club or the Society of St. Hydra next. Specifically, I'm looking at...

1. Who gets the most interesting summons?
2. Who is the most useful with Expeditions?

Summons are not restricted by Cult at all, and often times you don't even really need an Assistant so having an Exalt doesn't really make much difference.

St. Hydra is the only Cult with unique mechanical differences. A lot of people really like it, particularly for speed, but I'm not a big fan.

Someone has crunched the numbers and figured out which is "most useful," generally speaking, with regards to Expeditions. I don't remember for sure which it turned out to be, but I know Moth is capable of single-handedly completing several Expeditions. Though it's fairly useless for Cult Work, since Moth 5 and Moth 10 both have the same chance of success in destroying Evidence.

Hmm, okay. So, basically, picking a cult basically comes down to which Cult Business you want to do and what Ascension you're going for?

Even the Ascension doesn't matter all that much. There's a Summon for each of the three basic Ascensions that has more of the relevant Aspect than any Exalt.

It's mostly a matter of what Cult Business you like most. Except for St. Hydra, which is mostly good if you like getting a run done as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, your choice of cult matters very little and none of the cults is particularly flavorful. As far as practicality is concerned, I would say Forge is best for expeditions and Grail or Edge best for cult business.

Edge is reliable at killing hunters, but Winter can kill those hard-to-kill ones like Connie Lee fairly easily, from my experience. Aside from that, Winter won't do you much for expeditions. However, if you're doing a Sensation run, Winter can be quite fun

Winter is good for Ghoul. But only there really. The cult I'd recommend in general though is Heart. Heart cultists can consume reputation cards, and it's really easy to advance since you can use vitality and the Morland books to bring everyone up to disciple easily. Furthermore, while Heart never helps you clear an expedition, they're able to stop almost all curses.
