Large Cutlass From Overseas Exploit

In Heraldic Lily if you keep on entering and exiting one of the three boss rooms before the big door you can keep on stacking damage upgrades on the cutlass. If you have the patience you could get it to 500 damage, but I stopped around 220.

I am bumping this so I am not making one more thread.

I tried a run with Large Cutlas from Overseas, but then at some point, I changed it for another weapon, and then it got reset and I lost all the stacks of damage.
Is that a bug or intentionnal ?
