Problem with controller

After the first cinematique my controller does not respond anymore, I can pass the cinematic pressing the button but after nothing, an idea of ​​where will the problem come?
I play with xbox one controller.

Having controller issues too xbox360 wired wired gamepad. Worked fine during the tutorial, the hub then i went to Ancestral Dungeon exited the first room, using the door after the first moving platform over the spikes (activated with a lever behind the locked faith door), taking me to a different room then i get the gamepad disconnected message and it stops working (no windows usb unplug warning) tried to plug and unplug nothing. Happened twice in a row exiting the first room of the Ancestral Dungeon thru the same door. Also before encountering these bugs the game crashed to desktop with no message or warning after being killed by the Son of Limbo and retrying for a couple of times....hope you fix this soon dont like the KB controls for this game in the next few day before the refund window closes cuz i really dont want to play this with KB/M

I got my PS4 controller working by forcing steam controller emulation off for this game (big picture mode -> controller options or so).

EDIT: Updated the steps a bit:
If you have big picture mode enabled:
- Bring up steam overlay ingame
- Select Controller Options
- Set "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" to "Forced Off"
- Restart the game if needed

That way the setting only affects Dark Devotion.

For those of you who encounter controller issue when playing Dark Devotion.

Please check out the following workaround and let us know in the comment if it works out.

1. Boot up Steam in Big Picture Mode
2. Select the Gear icon on the top right to enter the Settings menu
3. Under "Controller", select "Controller Settings"
4. Uncheck everything.
5. Click back several times and then exit Steam Big Picture Mode

Hi. The ps4 controller is not supported in most of the games in Steam, Dark Devotion is not an exception. I’ll just download the players with the PS4 controller, the program "Imput mapper" and forget about this problem.It is free

DS4 has native support now in Steam, Input Mapper shouldn't be necessary. That being said, Aya's fix worked for me as well using a DS4/PS4 controller on Windows 10!

That specific fix should also prevent it from messing with other game settings, if it works for folks.

I had trouble with my xbox one bluetooth controller, the game recognised it in the early menu, but when I entered my save I cannot move or do anything with the controller. What I did to fix it was unable all the controller compatibility options in Big Picture mode, and now I can use my xbox one controller.

I did this and the gamepad works until I hit RT (the attack button), then the character starts making automatic dodge moves and the gamepad stops responding. It's very strange.

We investigated the issue you've encountered with your controller when playing Dark Devotion and managed to find two workarounds to fix the problem.


Please follow the steps detailed below:

1) disconnect your controller
2) restart Steam
3) plug your controller

This should allow you to play Dark Devotion without a problem.


After restarting Steam several times, if you still encounter an issue, there is an individual manipulation shall fix the problem.


Here are the steps to follow:

1) On Steam, enable the big picture mode
2) Bring up the Steam overlay in-game (tab + alt)
3 Select Controller Options
4) Set "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" to "Forced Off"
5)Restart the game if needed


This should fix the issue and allow you to use your controller as well.
