Fact: not much direction on how combat works, nor the faith stuff
Fact: first time I tried praying in the game, it broke and I had to reset (very buggy game)
Fact: poor lighting is used to hide the terrible graphics (minecraft literally is better)
Fact: no character customization, so In result don't feel attached to the story
Fact: stamina system is boring, half time in combat is waiting to recharge by running away
from these facts, I determine another fact: the game is trash
Oh, finally a discussion based on something concrete ... I'm almost in tears! Forgive me if I go by numbering what you mentioned but I do it for greater clarity:
1) This is a feature of the genre, not of this particular game. Even in Dark Souls you find yourself having to farm souls, as happens in the various titles I previously mentioned.
2) Honestly, I think there is very little to understand about how combat works. Instead, I give you reason as regards the mechanics of prayer, which needed a more detailed explanation.
3) The fact that the game was bugged for the first time does not make it a "very buggy game". I haven't had a single crash in over 10 hours, for example, and even if it happened it wouldn't allow me to exaggerate by labeling it this way.
4) Here instead we are on completely different planets. I really like the graphics of this game, I find that it has a nice pixel art, a fantastic artistic direction and the atmosphere is absolutely apt (Thanks also to the lighting game used by the developers), contributing to the immersion of the player.
And if you have the pleasure of consulting the various reviews of this game, you will discover that I am not the only concordant in this regard.
5) True, I would have preferred a greater commitment in this regard.
6) Also in this case we talk about a typical mechanic of the genre, especially in the initial stages of the game. If you had bothered to play further you would have discovered that the game allows you to increase it permanently.
Furthermore, by playing more you would also improve your stamina management skills, attacking only in the most effective moments and therefore avoiding having to run away to recharge it.
In short, at the end of the day what remains of your criticism is the lack of explanation of the mechanism of prayer and the lack of personalization of the character, frankly it seems to me a minimum basis for labeling this game as garbage and advising against its purchase...
It's inspired by Diablo 1, or 80s Prince of Persia more than Japanese 'metroidvanias'.
I can imagine what would happen if the scene got hold of character customization mod. We'd see neon-haired fairies running around in their underwear, with angel wings and 7 layers of rainbow coloured particle effects.
Sometimes you just want a no frills warrior, in this case, a red-haired Celt with a good selection of armor.
I don't know what all the fuss is about, I put 102 hrs into this game.
The journalistic criticism of the sector has promoted this title, 80% of the steam reviews of the last month are extremely positive, over 70% of over 500 reviews are positive... forgive me if I remain convinced that you do not know how to distinguish between what really garbage is and what simply goes beyond your taste or your abilities.
Man, get out of here. This game is fantastic. It's totally fine if you didn't enjoy it, but don't lob "overpriced." For the effort, this game is disgustingly underpriced.
