The water purifier is your end goal, and unintuitively the option to call evac only appears after you've removed all 3 parts. My reccommendation is to dump each part on the roof of the big van out front for safekeeping then go back in, the call for evac on that same van roof.
As for the zeds, only during level zero horde are they limited, and even then during certain parts of certain missions they might still trickle out. after that, you can clear space but the real trick is to learn how to move through the horde and remain uninjured. Approach them at their thinnest point and shove - which gives you total grab immunity for about a second and a half each time you do it. If you need to access a particular area, make a scene somewhere else and when you return the area will be much more accessabile.
This game is DEFINITELY not for everyone, and nobody on either side of the fence is wrong, but I can say that there was absolutely a learning and skill curve to this game.
A guy posted some time ago a Listeniing In solo run in Overkill difficulty, obviously with a high level character and good weapons (Grant), he managed a wonderful stealth mission.
Having to grind like it's a raid just to beat the second mission of the game seems completely absurd.
I'm also already using Grant, i've upgraded him as much as I can, given I can't upgrade the camp much because of the arbritrary resources going down per day mechanic, and the higher level weapons I've found so far(really just an uncommon quarter staff with a level/power/whatever of 40) feels exactly the same.
Was playing with Eaton Sniper until level 10, at 10 got rare Tzar Nagant, at 25 purple AIM.
So far the only mission I had difficulties solo was Join or Die (season 1 final one) and only because of low ammo drops.
But Grant with his one-shot-to-body skill is really viable too. Paired with Maya - unstoppable duo.
Molotovs also help clear hoards that a solo wouldnt be able to handle- especially for interactions.
Important note is to try your best to not alert a hoard too soon and if you do make sure you get them to stand back from whatever objectives you need to clear.
Some levels even change slightly depending on how many players are ingame so its not painfully hard. Once you get the hang of playing solo you can do it pretty easy- Just now I solo'd the Weekly 'Last Stop' first try.
