How the heck do we unlock new missions?!!!

I've been playing this game for about 2 weeks and certainly passed (completed successfully) a couple missions one by myself and the other 2 with other players online. I read that you must perform some kind of camp upgrades in order to unlock new missions on map. Well, the problem is that everytime I try to do such upgrades on camp the game doesn't allow me to do it so. The buttons on the menu are not clickable. Some times the game behavies weird. When I select one of the couple missions I can play, let's say hell or high water, the game takes me into another different mission. I also try to talk to anderson and he gave me a mission in which I have to defend the camp from the family but this mission is to hard to pass alone. Is there specific way to unlock missions on map? Please help

No, you have to beat that mission to proceed.

I wouldn't say its too hard actually, pretty easy when you learn where the marked enemy (stealing your stuff) is sitting, almost every time with right angle you can have a clean shot to eliminate him quickly. Playing Maya also helps because medkits are invaluable.
Completed it with like Lvl8 Maya.

And don't worry, the REALLY hard enemies are just ahead.

You have a mission to do, which is called "Worse Than Walkers". To unlock new areas on the map, you need to upgrade the base, "The Hub" tab / "Routes" tree. Some parts of the map unlock only after completing the story mission.

But at the moment finish "Worse Than Walkers". This is your's next mission.

I was afraid someone would say that mission is my next target. I was avoiding "worse than workers" because it is quite hard and I have over 30 tries solo with no success.

at start, Worse than Walkers is hard,
but later on, when you have maxed your gadget, weapon, stamina, and health bar. It is possible to do it solo.

So for now, your best bet, is team up with someone, try looking for people in "Looking for group" sub-forum if you cannot find any random dudes.

Might as well buy the game first

The game is focused on cooperation and it is difficult to play alone. Especially defensive missions, where in the last wave fall three enemy teams at once, and you must kill them all.

I doubt you can do that one solo. It's tough even for a group. I kept re-rolling teams until i found a group that didn't die in the first 30 seconds.

You can do it solo quite easily by just ambushing the guy with the supplies when he leaves and let the rest of the family come to you. Just make sure you are constantly stocked up on supplies.

then u can get a new mission
and then get more stuff to upgrade map
