How to get to Palulu Town? Bug?

After the Earth Temple I wanna go to Palulu Town. I tried running to the east, but ended in a dead end, the same everywhere else.
A YouTube-Video shows that the dragonfly to the east can be turned into a platform, so you can jump further, but it doesn't work. The earth power only kills the Dragonfly.

So....what is going on?

You must hold the button when casting the spell to turn enemies into platforms.
This is explained in each Ring tutorial upon acquisition, and you can rewatch it by selecting the Ring and pressing the confirm button.
