This game is awful
Truly one of the worst strategy games I've played in a long time. It's almost completely about luck - the options are pretty straightforward and it looks good, but it seems nothing you do matters *at all*.

I have the same opinion when I first played this game but once you get how it played, you'll change your opinion. Don't expect to win first time (I literally lose here like three times since I started the game) but I also finish it and even unlock the endings for it when I get how to play it. The only thing that pisses me off however though is the RNG events of this game.

But protip for you: Always have twoagents with hacker ability and two agents excel at exfil. Don't hire agents that has negative traits like stubborn, jinx, and hasty.

Just play and play the game whether you lose the game and repeat again. I'll update you some time since I'm still not done yet for the tips and tricks to win this game. Especially when it comes on getting scientist from enemy country by talking to a diplomat.

There is a luck element, but its much about managing your resources and playing into things that have high chance of success. There are pitfalls you learn to avoid once you understand the game. The biggest pitfall for a beginner is underestimating the importance of low alert level.

- Keep alert levels to a minimum. If your target country alert level is high, the mission becomes nigh impossible
- Use a hacker to lower alert levels before you attempt something
- Use a hacker to find target scientists, they can do it from home.
- As you might have figured, get a really good hacker, and a balanced team
- Ensure you have both drones at the site when you try exfiltration
- During exfil make choices that work well with the agent you have (the choices basically make you choose between strength/smarts etc approach, and knowing which is which helps a lot. Having at least scout drone lets you skip some encounters entirely as long as alert level is low)
- During multiple playthroughs, you unlock new agents by accomplishing certain things. Some of those agents are quite OP. Theres a wiki for that

My suggested team:
- Best hacker you can get (hacker is possibly the most important agent)
- high str exfil specialist
- seducer/negotiator
- spyhunter (for hunting enemy agents at home)

Best hacker in the game afaik is Trojan, who can be unlocked by finishing the main story and siding with her.

There are a few "random" things that are annoying I'd agree. For example Sigma advances that allow other countries to instantly steal your researchers in a pop-up event.

Or statuses like Heartbroken that can't seem to be fixed when a Scientist is already controlled by you (why can't I just seduce them with an agent to fix this ffs?)

HOWEVER 90% of the game is predictable and works fine, including Exfiltrations.

If you're failing at these, it's because you're using the wrong agents + not doing diplomatic prep work.

First step when doing any espionage in another nation should be to weaken their alarm system all the way down to 0% if you can. To do this, blackmail their diplomat and launch hacking attacks.

Once it's at 0% you can do Exfils very safely with a strong agent (especially good are agents who can use CQC to knock people out with bonuses). And if you use Ransomware + Diplomat Investigation you can actually just blackmail countries into giving you their best scientists without even having to fight them.

If anything I'm finding the game too easy, I've won both of my two game so far and I think I've got the strategy down now. *shrug*

Sorry dude but how is that about luck?
Team of 2 hackers with intelligence 7/8
Team of 2 exfils with strength 7/8

Start game -> lower alert level with hacker to nation you wanna do exfils to 0 from home -> Scan for scientist with hacker from home -> move your exfiltration guy in that nation -> Extract scientist number 1 -> Do same with another strenght exfiltration guy ... if there are more scientist in that nation use hacker to remove your warrants for exfiltration guys and move them again and exfiltrate another scientist

rinse and repeat

With that strategy I had all scientist at my home with 0 alert to all other nations.
Works every time. How is that RNG or luck base? Because there is 0 RNG.

You can only say that game is awful easy with that strategy but definitely not awful or awful RNG.
