Morrowind vibe
This is genuinely the first game since I played Morrowind for the first time many years ago where I genuinely felt like I was in a strange land, and for that, the game is worth it's price and more despite it's other obvious flaws and shortcomings.

But my God is this game pretty to look at, even with a lot of 2D textures. I can only imagine what it could look like with a much bigger budget behind it than it no doubt had.

Maybe it's because I'm an older gamer but this is giving me more of a Myst vibe also.

Imagine this game in Unreal or Cry engine.. :lunar2019shockedpig:
I loved walking around in this game. Unobstructed view of the whole world, and what views it was. Gave me that ElderScrolls feeling :lunar2019piginablanket:

I agree about the Morrowind vibe. It definitely feels more like Morrowind than Skyrim to me in terms of world design and general atmosphere. It also feels more "old school" in terms of quests and UI, with no giant quest markers pointing you in the right direction.
I've only played it for a bit, but fantastic game so far. Not missing combat at all. Exploration has always been what I liked best about open world games anyway.

Yeah, I've been telling my friends it's "Morrowind Lite". It's got that same feel, engaging quests etc.

I agree, this game is blatantly morrowindish and oblivionish. Colors, architecture, even music... Reminds TES games a lot ^^

I'm just about to play this game again and saw this thread. Morrowind was the first RPG I played, and I still find it to be one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. I also loved Oblivion, but I actually didn't like that they started using more voice-acting from then on. I liked only having the text, so that we could imagine what they sounded like, although they normally had some form of vocal greeting.

Anyway, good call. Maybe that's why I like this game so much too.
But why the monkeys, guys?

The developer said he was trying to add something unique to the game. However, after getting feedback from people who tried the Leaving Lyndow game, he realized it was a mistake, because a lot of people really didn't like the animal characters. He added that, since having them be animals wasn't really important, the game would have been fairly much the same if he had used normal humans.

It seems that they were too invested in creating the animal characters, by then, to change them into humans.
