Take a look at the thing in the lower right of your screen. Does it show '0' ? You've run out of inspiration. Read a book. Sit in a hot spring. Go somewhere new.

Do not pick peas for the farmer. He pays well but the work sucks inspiration from you.

I did indeed pick peas regularly. How can I check the lower right corner? Can I somehow open it? Meanwhile Im going down to the to take a bath.

Press the tab key. The number at the lower right corner is the amount of inspiration you have. 1 unit of inspiration inspires you to paint one painting. If you run out of inspiration you can't paint. Pay attention to changes to this number. You will occasionally notice that something you just did changes that number.

This is not a game where you should be grinding to get money. You are a very skilled painter. You can earn far more by painting a painting and selling it than you can from doing manual work.

Thanks a lot, Troll. I visited "the Architect" last night. (I had saved that a week ago) my balance of inspiration now stands at 3 - my next step will be the picture for the architect.
I remember that I then made a picture of the hoohoo bird,l What would you advise me to do then? the commissions are all in Tiffmore Bluff and I cannot build a float! Eastshade quite fascinates me (I am an 85year old Newbie) but I need help.

In Eastshade you can't set out to complete most of the missions, because you often don't know what you're meant to do until you stumble over it. So you just blinder around, going to new places and talking to new people, until you think "Hey, that would be useful for one of my unfinished missions !".

You are going to need that raft. It's important for reaching new unexplored areas. Take a look at what you need to make one, assuming you have the blueprint. What's stopping you from making one ?

I have managed to become friends with the Firt people, I'm quite proud of myself. I have only one friend in the steamworld. In eastshade I have none, Dear Troll, would you accept my friendship-offer? Thanks for your kind help.
Pesky Jan 8, 2021 @ 12:20pm
You didn't send a friendship invitation, so I sent you one. Now you just have to figure out how to accept it.

Enjoy the game. It's a great game, and you should be able to finish it, even though it has some annoying bugs.

Thank you, Teacher. I believe I managed to accept your invitation. However I miserably failed to send an invitation for a group chat. Are there group chats for Eastshade lovers?
Pesky Jan 9, 2021 @ 2:38am
Discussion about the game is on a Discord for the game where the experts and even one of the developers hangs out. Traffic has died down quite a lot now that the game has been out a while, But you can still find some chat there. You will have to download the Discord program to get at it, then use the following text with the 'Add a Server' '+' icon.

I tried for three Eastshade days to boost my 2 level, to no avail. With only 2 I dare nor continue with the baloon travel - if I manage to fly to the peak I need to "paint" to pictures - one for mother and one for commission. So how can I boost inspiration?

Go somewhere you haven't been before. Read something you haven't read before (there are some books in the library, or you could take a free newspaper). Find a hot spring and sit in it for a while. Listen to one of the people you meet tell a story, recite poetry or play music (except I think one guy in town who just plays all the time anyway).
I found a way to get as much painting as you want. Drink tea. Spend time picking tea making supplies if you can't buy tea, make a fire, put the kettle on and brew like crazy. I became so good at it I had hundreds of tea drinks and over a dozen canvasses. You don't need to wait for the tea timer to run out. Just slurp ever couple of seconds and watch your inspiration skyrocket. I did this because I just enjoyed hanging out and painting but became very disappointed when I found out that you can't save your paintings by sending them to the file that's listed. I just don't feel the same about it now. But if you just want to paint- start drinking....tea.

Dear Troll, thanks to your help I reeducated my impatient temperament and going "slowly, slowly" managed my excursion with the baloon; listening 4 evenings to the storyteller boosted my creativity and helped me to attempt "fishing" - I hate fishing, I have always hated fishing and a shall probably always hate fishing - but I need to learn to fish - the game wants me to catch 9 fish. Can you help me to learn? Please.
Pesky Jan 19, 2021 @ 10:48am
I'm sorry, I have trouble with fishing in this game too. I did learn that you must pull in the line immediately the float bobs. Unlike normal fishing, the fish does not hook itself unless you pull in the line at this time, If you miss this chance, reel in the line and cast again.

You can buy a book in the market which tells you which fish like which bait.

Congratulations on getting yourself out of the 'no inspiration' trap.

Thanks for the compliment. I continued because Eastshade is the first game I encountered that does not celebrate violence. Before I discovered Eastshade I only trained my old brain with mahjong type stuff. So I am really deeply motivated. Your kind answer now helps me to venture to another itinary: forget the fishing - try to build a float to cross into Tiffmore!
I need to find out how to build a boat (I managed to program the tent and the fire by sheer luck, I dont knoe how I did it) but the float I need step by step instructions. Does the ambassador have the right to HELP?
