click the greyed out icons on the left when in "view painting menu".

View the painting, if it's right area the icon should flash slightly, click it and again click the painting. Then you should get a message confirming.

If that doesn't work you have painted the wrong thing or you have a bug :(

Bring up the painting display. You should be able to scroll through your paintings using <> left and right.

On the left of the display you should see four icons. Colour icon means you have already assigned a painting to this icon. Monochrome icon means you haven't.

Scroll to the painting you did for your mother.

The appropriate monochrome icons should highlight. If it doesn't, the game doesn't think your painting is suitable.

Click on the icon. Game puts up a dialog. Scroll to the painting you want to assign then click on it. Icon turns colour.

Correct place. When you painted that painting did you get onscreen notification that that was one of your mother's requests ?

What do you mean "it's not letting me save" ? Do you still have that painting in your collection ?

No, I didn't get a notification that it was one of her places, but I painted several different ones from different spots to try to get it to pop up. I have the painting in my inventory, but I cannot preserve it.

When you're painting the view from the top of the icy place, are you painting a view across the icy place, with mostly icy places in your view ?
Tarragon Mar 11, 2019 @ 12:54pm
Just to be sure: are you painting the view *from* the mountaintop? (and I mean the very top, not just the spot where the balloon lands) Or are you painting a view *of* the mountaintop? It should be the former, not the latter.

What Tarragon is saying. You have to climb all the way UP the mountain and paint from the Top.
You will also get an achievement for going up there. And there is also part of another quest in the same area, opposite of the top.

The route to the top of the hill they are talking about is easy to find, the start of it is marked by a dirt path that you can see on the left as you walk towards the tree and Nava.

My problem is slightly different, but still related to the topic: When I have two paintings suitable for the same icon, it presents me with an interface to scroll to the painting I want to save. But when I click on the arrow to choose a painting, it counts as me clicking on the first one shown, and that's the one which gets saved. In other words, if I have two or more suitable pictures for one spot, I'm not able to choose which one I'll save, it always saves the first one I painted.

Did someone else encounter that bug, or is that how the game is supposed to work? I hope it's the former, because I'd like to choose the best paintings to honor me mum's memory.

Yes, had the same problem. I didn't mind though, cause it has not so much impact on the game.

I just had this same problem and I do mind, because it's picking a painting I did for a commission of the windmills, instead of the other painting I like better of the bluff itself. I would rather choose the latter so I can save it and turn in the windmill one for the commission but I can't.

If you scroll to the painting you wish to memorialize, then click on the appropriate left side slot, a dialogue will appear allowing you to confirm the painting presented, or scroll to another. This is hardly intuitive, and could have been coded better. Hopefully it will be fixed with the next game revision.

I know. And what i'm saying is that when you click on that side slot a series of all your paintings that qualify come up, but you can't actually select anything but the first one. Clicking the arrow to go to the next one simply selects the first one instead.

This is also true if you give a paining of the Eclipse to Nika. She asks if it's for her, a screen comes up with paintings that have the eclipse in them, but if you click the arrow it selects the first one only.

This is even true if the painting in question is one of the "preserved" paintings you selected for your mother. I just lost the tree painting I did because it had the eclipse in the background and when trying to go to the next one in the series it just gave that one to her instead.

I think I know what the problem is! If the painting is cropped wide enough that it overlaps the arrow buttons, clicking on the arrow buttons is interpreted as clicking on (selecting) the painting. I had the same problem. The solution is to go into your list of paintings, click on the Mother's Painting icon you want to replace, then, without selecting a painting, press Tab. That will reset the Mother's Painting slot. You will have to just leave that slot empty until you dispose of the painting you don't want to use.

I had a similar issue. I painted the correct eclipse 'EYE' painting for Mudwillow first but didn't give it to her right then. Instead I did two other Quests. During that time, I painted an Eclipse from the Gazebo to give to Nika. When I gave it to Nika, the game gave her Mudwillow's 'EYE' Eclipse painting rather than the Gazebo Eclipse painting. Apparantly, the game chose the first painting of an eclipse picture in the gallery that I painted.
