You make it sound like that is a bad thing.
MGS is a very successful game, there is litterally nothing wrong with being an mgs clone, especially when character/mech designer of this game is Yoji Shinkawa (who was also the art directer for all of the MGS games).
FM3 was pretty darn good, but most of the games of the series never made it to Europe, so from my point of view, yes. It has been dead for quite a while
Dual gear also seem to show promise, as its seems to be a spiritual successor of front mission games. but only time will tell
