Way to keep game fullscreen and move my cursor to a different window?
I just installed this game and haven't played yet, I'm saving it for stream. When trying to set it up to play and run the capture through OBS, I found that I can't easily move the cursor from the game to a different application, I have to alt-tab which minimizes the game and my stream viewers will be able to see my desktop. Is there a way to make it stay full screen if I alt-tab away or a way for my cursor to move away from the game window? The cursor won't leave the game window at all unless I alt-tab. Thanks! :)

Hello Unholeh,

I am not a streamer, and have no experience with Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio, however, I did a bit of research using my favorite search engine on both the OBS forum and other resources available on the internet as well as a bit of Little Misfortune playing to see what I could see. Also, perhaps other gamers who also stream can add to this thread.

And you're absolutely right, when using ALT-Tab to "force" the cursor out of the Little Misfortune game, the game does minimize if you're playing in full-screen mode. You CAN use the "Windows" key to move the cursor away from the game window also (you said in your post that there was no other way to move the cursor out of the game besides the "ALT-Tab" key combination). But the same behavior occurs when you use the "Windows" key instead of the ALT-Tab key combination. There is no way to change this behavior as far as I am aware (again, if you're playing the game in full-screen mode).

So, the only "workaround" that I've found to prevent the minimizing of the Little Misfortune game when you use either "ALT-Tab" or "Windows" key, is to play the game in a window (instead of full-screen).

There may be a reason you have decided not to play in this way, and since I have no experience with OBS, there may be an issue there.

If I play Little Misfortune in a window, I find that using either "ALT-Tab" or "Windows" key does not cause the game to minimize. If OBS can be configured to display/steam/record only the Little Misfortune game window when it is running, then even if "ALT-Tab" or "Windows" key displays something on top of the game window briefly, then perhaps this is a workaround that will be helpful to you. My brief research into using OBS indicates that you should be able to do this.

My internet research also led me to several software packages that allow the Little Misfortune game to run in a borderless window which might also be useful to you. Using your favorite search engine and the search term: borderless window led me to several choices (some freeware, and some not) to eliminate the window border in the game when running in Windowed mode.

Using OBS introduces many complexities into running any game, as does the usage of borderless window software. I have not tried to use OBS with Little Misfortune, and have no experience in getting the game to run well with that software. My quick research and trying of the borderless window software resulted in the expected behavior of eliminating the top title bar, and also eliminating the minimize, maximize, and close buttons in the upper right corner of the windowed game screen. This makes the game screen look full-screen, but still a window and eliminates the behavior of the game minimizing when you use "ALT-Tab" or "Windows" key to move the cursor out of the game temporarily. If you encounter any difficulties in using a borderless window software with OBS, you may wish to consider streaming with OBS without using any borderless window softwares (using a "regular" window instead) if this can be done in a way that meets with your expectations as this may lessen configuration complexities.

Also consider posting in the OBS forums regarding any issues you encounter if you choose to stream the Little Misfortune game while it is in a window. This may get you a more informed answer to any difficulties you experience. Here is one thread which may be helpful to you if you encounter any issues regarding the use of "ALT-Tab" or the "Windows" key to move the cursor out of the game screen when playing any game in a window: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/using-alt-tab-switches-scenes.139392/.

You may already be aware of all of these issues and software. To summarize, my direct answer to your question about using "ALT-Tab" to exit out of the Little Misfortune game playing in full-screen mode is that it does result in the game minimizing, and there is no way to change that behavior as far as I am aware. The "workaround" is to play the game in a window (borderless or "regular").

I invite gamers browsing your thread with knowledge of OBS and streaming the Little Misfortune game to post in this thread if they can help you.

I also want to thank you for posting here and for wanting to stream the Little Misfortune game. I hope you and your followers enjoy Misfortune's adventures.
