Yes, most of the players play the multiplayer mode through joining the discord to match others

the game itself is dead yeah but theres dedicated discords

Multiplayer is pretty much dead, but it's fun to play against the bots (at least in my opinion) and it's really fun whenever you run across a player on multiplayer once in a blue moon. The single player is great as well.
