Startup Error when using a large TV Screen

Whenever I try and start this game while my computer is plugged into a big-screen TV, (Which is made by the same company as the smaller TV I use as a normal computer monitor, which this game runs great on) I get an error that the configuration doesn't match the detected hardware.

I'm guessing the Resolution setting is to blame since that's the only option I can find that seems to relate at all to a TV screen. How do I find the resolution of my TV?

I have this exact problem. It's the only game I've ever tried that has had this issue (I run most of my games on my TV, at 1920x1080 60hz) and the game runs perfectly fine on my computer monitor. No resolution I choose seems to be acceptable though, other than putting it really, really, low (and who wants that?).

I'll just play on my monitor but I bought it to play on my TV so it's a bit irritating.

I had the same problem. Fixed it by editing GraphicsConfig.cfg in the steamapps\common\sonic generations and erasing the 11th line which used to define the monitor apparently ("ACRsomehting", I had an Acer monitor as my second monitor). Plays fine on my primary screen now.

That tip worked for me. Plug it into the big screen, delete that line, or the entire file. Then it will request a reconfigure before you start the game, which is as simple as opening the configure menu and hitting save and quit. (While plugged into the TV)

Still no joy for me, unfortunately. If I plug it into my TV I only get the option (in the config) for 30hz and below, which is odd as I always play my other games at 60hz. Then, if I do try to play the game with any of the available choices, it brings up an error message saying:

"The detected configuration does not match your current hardware. Please re-run the configuration tool."

I have to close the game back down and can't get any further.

As I say, it all works completely fine on my computer monitor...

Here's what I did: Delete that line > Start game and get a request to reconfigure. > Start Configuration > Do NOTHING other than Save and Quit. >Start game.
If that doesn't work, I dunno.

Try setting the resolution to something different in the configuration screen. See which one fits.

the problem is different to me.
i can only use this game using my tv philips.
and i cannot use samsung SA550 ...

Delete config file and restart the game, BAM fixed.
