Won't download

Hey guys! I got Sonic Generations and it won't download. It says it done downloading but it shows 0 bytes/0 bytes. I try running it and it obviously won't work. Says its missing the executable. I looked and tried many solutions and none worked. Any help would be appreciated.

That never hapenned to me. And there is a alert:That Sonic Generations from Steam is emulated from Xbox 360. And why don't download? I think if is because of your Windows version. And that's is not a thing if you need talk here,that's a thing if you need talk for Valve (The Corporation Steam Creator) or SEGA (Creator of Sonic). Sorry if i talk something wrong,i'm Brazillian and i'm not a "profissional" in english.

I appreciate both responses. And I understand what you're saying Alenkasogua. I'm very good at understanding people from other countries :D Anyway, the odd thing is that the same issue happened with 2 other games I got in the Sega bundle. Typing of the Dead: Overkill and the Vikings game have the same issues. On the other hand, other games have no problem downloading and running.

Thanks too for responses. I have the same problem with 7 other game from the Sega bundle too . . . Its seems that is the Sega bundle in charge.

Thanks Asterie for ensuring me that I'm not the only one with that issue. At least most of the bundle works.....Wish there was something Valve or Sega could do to fix this for us

I'm having the same exact problem too. I don't get a preview of how much HDD space it'll require. It just points me to the install path, pretends to download/install, and then doesn't. It CLAIMS that it's installed, but it's not. I keep getting the "Failed to start game (missing executable)" error.

I've gone through all of the steps suggested here and on other forums.

1. I validated the cache. Steam said that everything was okay even though absolutely nothing was ever downloaded.
2. I deleted the ACF files and restarted. That didn't work.
3. I checked my permissions and privileges. That didn't work either.
4. I uninstalled & wiped out all traces of Steam before restarting and doing a clean install. No luck here either.
5. I flushed my cache. Nope.
6. I tried to backup, on the off chance that it'd trigger the d/l. That did nothing.
7. I tried compatibility mode. Nope. That didn't work.
8. I completely disabled my Comodo firewall/av and any other anti-malware. No luck.
9. I stripped my backdround services to bare minimum. Nothing.
10. I even ran in safe mode with networking and key services anabled. Dead end.

I wouldn't have posted here unless I were TOTALLY out of ideas.

It's only a handful of these SEGA bundle games that won't properly download/install. The ones that seem to have this problem are:

- Alpha Protocol
- The Club
- Condemned: Criminal Origins
- NiGHTS into Dreams
- Sonic Adventure 2
- Sonic Generations
- Space Siege
- Viking: Battle for Asgard

It can't be my system. My rig is as follows:

- Intel Core i7-3930k (6-core) @ 3.2GHz
- 16GB System RAM
- NVidia GeForce GT 630 (v3 Kepler) 2GB Vid RAM
- Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit
- 2TB HDD (750GB+ free)
- Latest Steam client (downloaded 3/27/2015)

I more than meet the requirements for these older apps. I can even comfortably run games like Deus Ex:HR & Dying Light on this system. It's just THESE apps.

Like I said, I'm all out of ideas.

Thinking that it might be this particular system, I tried to get those games to download on my laptop.

The laptop is a 16GB Toshiba i7, GTX 770 3GB, 1TB HDD, & running Win8.1 x64.

Same problem. Claims to download. Doesn't. 0 bytes. Every single "solution" I tried on the above desktop also doesn't work on my laptop either. It's definitely not on my end. I'm pretty sure about that now.

Disappointing. 8 games unable to download/install. Granted, the SEGA Super Bundle is made up of 90-something games, but still. Wish this problem would get fixed.

I'm having this issue too along with Typing of the Dead: Overkill and NiGHTS, I hope this gets fixed as soon as possible...
I should also mention that for Typing of the Dead: Overkill it only downloaded the Direct X redist.

I've been having this problem as well. Only found it so far with Sonic Generations and Typing of the dead, but I haven't managed to download all on my list yet, so I'm not sure how many are effected. I was looking through a few threads trying to find a solution. A suggestion is that it could be due to server failure. Since it's a large sail with so many downloading from the servers at once that it simply is failing, and however it is doing so is sending an incorrect data cache. Unfortunately this suggestion means that the only way to resolve the problem, presuming it is caused by over taxed servers, is to simply wait for the sail to end and then resume attempts to download the games.

Hey guys, im having the same issue as you all with the sega bundle. i read on the borderlands 2 forum that they were having the same issue when the 2k games bundle came out and that the reason for it; is that cause the bundle is so popular that its clogging up the servers for downloading. I submitted a ticket to steam and they just forward you to sega, and sega told me to try everything that robstanta74 did and if it didnt work then just to wait for the bundle to not be on sale and the clogging should resolve its self. so over then next week or so just keep trying here and there and if it doesnt resolve we should just flood steam and sega with tickets :P

Just posting to add myself to the list of this error, Sonic Generations finished downloaded succesfully 0 bytes / 0 bytes "missing executable" same problem with Typing of the dead, just getting a direct x folder

I'm really glad I'm not the only one! lol Thanks all for your responses! I really hope it a server issue of some kind. Then time would be the only solution! Makes me wonder how SOME games download just fine while others mess up
