Sonic Generations

Porting Generations models with Blender?
Yeah, basically I would like to port models from Sonic Generations to the Source Engine with their rigs and all that sort of stuff, but I want to use Blender for it.

(RandomTalkingBush' and Apoc Hedgie's models are heavily edited to make it easier to use them in Source Filmmaker and Garry's Mod.
Far less bones, and flexes instead of bones for mouth animations (Sonic Generations uses bones for emotions and such, I think).)

Is it in any (known) possible way to load Generations models into Blender?
Note: SonicGlvl (a level editor) has a .dae export function for Generations models, but Blender absolutely hates those exports, breaking the shading, and almost anything makes Blender crash after I've imported SonicGlvl exported .dae models.

And no, I will not use 3DS Max or whatever all you cool guys out there use for it.
I really want to be able to port these models using Blender.

Use 3DS Max.

EDIT: Only reason I replied like this is because you implied I didn't read the thread's text.

For the record, Dario is the father of Sonic Generations modding and knows his stuff, having worked with the game files way more extensively than anybody. You're not going to be able to get this done since Blender lacks valuable import and export parts which only 3DS Max has that are compatible with the Generations models, as far as I've read from following Sonic Retro's hacking topic for the game since the demo came out.

I'm not sure what else you want us to tell you if you've gone and blocked the father of this game's modding community for giving you the only viable option, though.
What a shame, since I clearly stated "Blender, not 3DS Max", and he unpolitely told me to use 3DS Max. Then I repeated I wouldn't, and he unpolitely told me to use 3DS Max, again. I saw no other option than to block him. What else could I do? You know the answer, but I'll write it here anyway. Nothing at all. I mean, there is no "report for spam" button.

The second time, he COULD had said something like "Alright. Sorry, but it's not currently possible to edit Generations models with Blender", but no, he had to be unpolite.

Why not use 3ds max and export it from there? Doesn't mean you have to actually use it. I know alot of people who use blender for the exports and get it done by using Max to export it to Blender. I don't see why you have to be the exeception.

You inferred too much from three words he said to you and thought of it as impolite, if anything you were being impolite yourself.

But yeah you'll have to use 3ds Max to export it out to blender if you want it done the quickest way. Just easier that way.
btw just checking since it's been some time

Are you using 3DS Max yet?
By the way, just letting you know, since it's been some time...

Could you help me sometime this fall port a character model from blender to 3ds max (I will be able to in the all) and show me the steps to then use it to create a character model for sonic generations please Dario?
Does Dario have permission and skills to make Hovercraft from EarthBound NX called Pork Bean it had two different designs in prototype and final version.
gens models work fine for me in blender
Yeah, just use 3DS Max for $195 per month or $1236 per year, it's fine. :)

really...you necro this thread dude...

beside: don't want 3DS max? use modelfbx [provided in the 0.9 branch of SGLVL] [use it with a batch file to ease process]

now you got your answer.
