Sonic Fans during 2008: Sonic Unleashed is even worser than sonic 06! Werehog is a bland and a stupid idea.
Sonic Fans during 2021: Sonic Unleashed is one of the best 3D Sonic Games ever!

Sonic Fans during 2010: Sonic 06 is trash! Sonic Colors is the game we all needed in a long time! It's one of the best 3D Sonic Games!
Sonic Fans during 2021: Sonic 06 has some potential! What? Sonic Colors? It's not even a 3d game! It's just blocky 2d platforming.

Then, in the future,
Sonic Fans during 2021: Sonic Forces is just so bad! Atleast in 06, SEGA Tried but here? The game plays itself! Are we watching a movie? Sonic Generations is a good game :)
Sonic Fans during 2026/2031: Hmm.... Sonic Forces has some potential. It atleast tried to have a dark and edgy story. The Avatar is also awesome! What? Sonic Generations? That game is just re-imagined stages and nothing else. It did not even try to be original. It's just copying from the previous games. It's just meh.

Why is the Fan Base like this? Then, there are reviewers like IGN who hate sonic and bring more burden on SEGA. What would SEGA and the Sonic Team even do? :(

Edit 2: OK. So after I spent some time to really go deep into this thing, I learnt that the fanbase was not that bad as before. They have realised their faults and are trying to come back to normal. That fanbase split that the video talked about is also not that much now. Many are trying to unite. Even that TOXICITY many people talk about is almost nothing now.

Though one thing I found that the fanbase is still doing wrong is that they complain a bit too much. Many fans have been wanting some sonic news and when they get news, they complain about it MOST OF THE TIME. Sometimes, they even overlook the good things but that's just a minor issues which happens sometimes. The major issue is how these criticisms are stated.

You have the right to criticise about the things which you find are bad BUT you should CONSTRUCT your criticisms well especially for Sonic Tubers. For example, I have seen MANY MANY people tell that "Sonic's model is Lifeless and is looking a lot brighter in Ultimate for some weird reason. Even the Wii version's model was a lot better than this." And I have seen people like this "Sonic's Model looks a bit brighter than it should and his eyes don't move. If they could tone down the brightness a bit and animate his eyes, then things could turn better!"

These 2 statements are both valid and talk about the same thing but the difference is HOW they are told. The first statements tends to be on the negative side with things like "Lifeless" and "Even the Wii Version" The second statement leaves on a positive note. And though this may not seem like much, I feel that leaving on a positive note always leaves a motivating and an optimistic impression on the developers or people who care about it in general.

If this one thing is fixed, the fanbase COULD turn normal again!

Except not really. This fanbase has its faults and certainly could be a lot better than it is, but there are a lot of truly passionate fans out there that have done some great stuff for this series. A few examples include the bonus gallery in Sonic and the Black Knight which showcase a lot of excellent fan art in the game itself, the Sonic P-06 fan remake in Unity which I'm pretty sure is still in development as well as Sonic Mania in general being mainly made by fans that have even worked on other fan games in the past.

Many people are still under the impression that the sonic fanbase are one of the most toxic ones out there and always have a bad idea about sonic since sonic 06. The fanbase has changed now and even I came to know about this after I created this discussion. They have realised their faults and are trying to come back to normal. The only thing I think that they are doing wrong is that they complain about everything simply because it was not that they expected. (I have seen some fans hating the sonic central event. They wanted game news and they still complain like this because it was not the news they expected or they complain because they say they deserve to see more) But I am pretty sure that even that would turn to normal soon!

During the 2010s, if you ask a sonic fan "Which is the better game? Sonic Lost World or Super Mario Galaxy?" Most of them would obviously say "What?! Is that even a question?! Of course sonic lost world is better than mario galaxy! In fact, it is better than every mario game!". But if you ask the same question now, they would reply "Yeah. Galaxy was indeed better than lost world". The toxicity this fanbase HAD has reduced. Now, In my perspective, this fanbase is one of the most diverse and talented ones out there. Just look at the amazing art and fan game creations there are!

Its sad that just one bad reputation, everyone think that its over and are always negative and sometimes even spread unnecessary exaggerated info. Just one radical is enough to spoil an image of someone (Like IGN did to Unleashed)

Jokes on you, I'm ignoring the "cycle". If the cycle holds true, what about generations? Reviews didn't slam that game, and some fans were even calling it their new favorite in the franchise. What about Mania? Everyone was talking about how good it was, including people the left/never were apart of the fanbase. Like Sonic2021 said, this really only works for Forces.

So as to JUST prove his point, he went on to add false and unnecessary info like the day stages having unresponsive controls and what not! He did all of this exaggeration JUST TO PROVE HIS POINT. I found the unleashed night stages to be bearable and a bit annoying at some times. That's all, but I found everything else about this game is magnificent. The Presentation, the HUB worlds, the level design etc.., was amazing! Especially the presentation. Also, your OPINIONS about mania, colors etc.., are not FACTUAL. Everyone have their own opinion you know?

Edit: Also, Colors is better than Unleashed in EVERY WAY? See? This is the False Exaggerated Info I am talking about. The Presentation, the gameplay, the level design, the PASSION put into the game etc.., are better in Unleashed and those are ALMOST FACTS and something more than half of the fanbase agrees to. You can have one opinion but please don't call it factual and most importantly, please RESPECT other people's opinions. Everyone has an opinion and their own perspective in which they see things.

Superman 64,Bubsy 3D,E.T. looked like unfinished game,Hong Kong '97 was a joke,Sonic '06 was rushed up.

Nearly No one actually said 06 is a VERY good game. Many agree that it is a mess. But what the fanbase praises about 06 is that it had some serious potential. That's why 06 is getting a bit of a praise now.
