My woes with Sonic Gmi (someone please help me)

So I got sonic generations PC exclusively for the mods. So I got Sonic Gmi and did everything correct, I put the contents of the Sonic Gmi folder here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sonic Generations
and the mods I wanted to install in the mods folder that was with the other files and put my mods there. A quick tutorial told me that if I checked the box next to the mod created the alternate excutable enabled the mods and clicked the save button I would be all set. However apon clicking the save button every single time no matter what mod I'm using the check disappears and nothing else happens and samething happens if I press save and play but instead the game launches and everything is Red. I can't figure out what is happening or how to fix it so if you know anything your help would be appreciated.

The thing with everything being red should be fixed by activating the FxPipeline Shader mod that come with sonicgmi.

yeah I know, however the FxPipeline Shader mod does not activate and neither does any other mod. That's my main issue if I can figure out what is causing the mods to not activate the issue with everything being red will no longer be a problem

Stupid question, but have you clicked the install button at the bottom of the GMI window?

ive been trying to make my mods work for a month.

nothing happens it just vanishes, i looked up every youtube video still nothing, can some awsome person plss help me, i may even pay you. im pissed at sonic generations.

I had trouble getting it to work at first, but I finally did. Here are step by step instructions assuming that you already have Sonic GMI and mods downloaded.

1) extract Sonic GMI into the Steamapps\Common\Sonic Generations folder
2) put mods in the mod folder Steamapps\Common\Sonic Generations\mods
3) Copy the sonic EXE (just incase as a backup- GMI will also make a backup)
4) Run Sonic GMI as administrator (rightclick and click run as admin)
5) Before testing with mods, you need to use GMI to backup the exe if you have not already done so. (if you have not done this, follow steps 6-8, launch the game and then close and do 6-8 again. It will not work until this happens)
6) check "Enable Mods" and "enable save file redirection"
7) click "Install/Uninstall" A popup will say either Mods enabled or disabled. NOTE: when mounting mods or changing you MUST DO THIS TWICE... Once to disable all mods and then once to enable So while you have the mods you want to play, you want Sonic GMI to say Disabled and then Enabled in that order (even it that means you need to do it 3 times, you want it enabled in the end)
8) Click Save and Play

It is worth noting the first time I launched it failed. It only worked when I did step 7 exactly
