You didn't need to flood the thread...
Also the Switch can handle this game, docked or not (as long as the port isn't botchered like some other game).
Sonic Unleashed on the other hand would probably need some downscaling as it can finally run smoothly on the Xbox Series (despite being a X360 game).
Whereas they have no problem re-releasing Sonic 1 and 2 over and over again, which while I'm glad they do since it means more people get the chance to play the games that started it all, I do question why most of the other games in the series, regardless of overall quality, never see the light of day again. I mean, at least with the storybook games, I can somewhat understand considering their reliance on the Wii's motion controls.
It makes absolutely no sense to me - just because it wasn't as well received as they expected or wanted them to be doesn't mean they don't deserve a second chance with a newer audience, with Sonic Unleashed being a very good example of this. The recent attention that game's gotten in the past few years may cause second-hand disc copies to skyrocket in price.
Capcom is one of the best examples I can think of when it comes to companies preserving their legacy content for a new generation of gamers, hence why so many of their games, particularly RE4 and Okami, have seen so many ports and re-releases over the years, meaning it's no longer necessary to get PS2 copies just to play them. Most of the people that are willing to buy these games are those that never got the chance to experience them originally.
Long story short, games like Generations can definitely work on the Switch if SEGA take the time, care and effort to port the game to it as well as modern consoles, which isn't as big of a deal for the XBOX 360 version on a Series X due to backwards compatibility but the PS4/5 and Switch would need native ports to get working, which is certainly possible.
The storybook can still get an HD port with the joycon controls but those are spin-offs.
They still need to fix their issue with Sonic 3&K for once and for all.
Capcom is a good example but sadly Konami and Squarenix aren't following them.
And Sony kinda messed up by not making the PS4 and 5 not backward compatible.
Same with Nintendo and their library of games that isn't from the NES or SNES. Whenever we do get N64, GameCube or Wii games from them, it's usually from barebones collections that are only available for a limited time and then disappear into the digital ether forever, especially considering the lack of Virtual Console and backwards compatibility.
As for Nintendo I still don't get the whole "limited digital release" thing (especially since they didn't even bother to put the other Fire Emblem games on the NES/SNES online).
I'm glad to see F-zero and Panel De Pon there but they should bring more game there.
And you don't need to flood the forums with your off topic discussions, but who am I tell what people should and shouldn't post?
The Switch is severely downclocked and many third party games usually get their fps cut by almost half when running undocked. That makes it almost as weak as the WiiU which would make a game like Generations have bad performance even if capped to 30fps.
Not to mention that certain aspects like 30 sec trial and time attack mode wouldn't be possible if playing the Switch in a place lacking internet.
Probably because those games are more popular among the Sonic fanbase to warrant re-releases for extra profit, while games like Unleashed weren't viewed as highly compared to Generations (although that contradicts why Colors wasn't ported to PC). I think Sega and/or Sonic Team is too afraid to take financial risks...or maybe they're a bunch of morons and lost a lot of the source code and assets lol. I won't really discuss emulation but that's also another viable option which can be done legally with the proper steps.
Sonic Lost World runs on the same engine as Generations so it wouldn't get too much issues.
You can still have local time attack, with or without internet, it doesn't matter.
Sega aren't the one who can lose the source code of a game, you're saying it like only them could.
Also Unleashed and Colors are often requested (like Sonic 3&K on the Switch and Xbox One/Series and PS4/5).
They could even port Riders and Heroes as those already had a PC port.
PS: stop multi-posting, use the edit button please.
Sure, we got Generarions, Lost World and Forces but compared to the ammount of PC port of Sonic games we got from the second half of the 90's to 2007 (with Mega Collection Plus, their last major Sonic game on PC, which was just a compilation of the Genesis game with some SMS/GG ones).
And I agree that they should focus on bringing their game back to current gen consoles and PC. The mobile port could become uncompatible with the newer IoS/Android tomorrow or they can pull out Sonic 3&K from Steam anytime.
I wonder why they didn't port Zero Gravity to PC nor include the Babylons in Team Sonic Racing.
Yeah, they could even put the prototype musics for an eventual mobile remaster.
I seriously doubt they'd port 3D Blast as we already got the Genesis version (with the Director's cut as a mod) but this would be nice to experience both versions.
I wouldn't even be mad if they re-released Sonic R to Steam just for the meme and for the mods.
