I went a little too far in bashing someone who I felt was being too comfortable advocating. ^_^; I almost didn't buy the game but I did, because I do not want the devs to be punished by some localizers that will be replaced by AI, and that replacement needs to happen fast.
I hope a lot of people talking about it makes Sega nervous, because I think the game is going to do better than ppl think. o_O I may just be overly optimistic, though.
Oh, I didn't consider that! x_x
So I know you have the other thread. I'll say this kind of glad this stuff is being brought up, but it might be a losing battle when TES: IV came out think Horse Armour. I didn't realize it was this bad until you said this
Don't like that I said this? Thats fine. I'm sure your 20th new steam thread for a 13 year old game will convince all the people about how much of a sin to humanity the rerelease is.
Also, I predict you all are gonna call me a toxic fanboy too. Yeah. Sure. Just disregard all the people who have actual genuine positive experiences for this game and call them toxic fanboys and just listen to the one guy on steam forums making multiple tryhard inflammatory threads, complaining about how censorship of a game's story ruins the ENTIRE THING.
It is ruining art. And small censorship like this is just to prepare us when its big changes. In the future you may have something censored beyond what you can imagine now, and you're paving the way for that future.
I'm glad he and others are calling it out.
I am seeing these consultant groups on video saying to scare publishers to hire them. It's like an extortion racket. Let us fix your game for a modern audience that doesn't exist or maybe the game journalists all fall in line to say they found sexism in your work place, like with the Wukong devs.
There is no reason to censor inoffensive stuff. It's weird and suspicious.
There was no reason for the censorship as far as I'm concerned, except for weasels to find problems so they can shake down publishers and devs.
You can love sonic x knuckles generation and still not defend it like your life is attached to it.
Learn how to make paragraphs instead of walls of text please. Next time I may read it.
You folks calling it out are not realizing you're CONVINCING people that Generations is a crap game. It's gonna discourage people from playing it. And for what? A story that was censored that doesn't really matter. The game itself is awesome, and is one of the best Sonic games of all time. A measly, miniscule, unimportant story is not gonna change that fact.
You saying you're not gonna read my long post isn't gonna help your case, and proves to me you aren't actually willing to listen to me. Case in point, if you don't listen to me, why should I listen to you? Lets just agree to disagree.
Also, I'm not "defending the game with my life." If you read my posts, you should know I'm not defending Ian's decision to censor the game. I'm annoyed by how absurdly hyperbolic and exaggerated the original post is and the title. Nothing is stopping you from starting a discussion and expressing why you think the censorship sucks. Its the fact that people like this guy make it such a huge deal. The baseless assumptions that everyone who plays SxSH Generations is wanting the censorship in the first place is just plain wrong.
The posts are inflammatory in nature. The guy isn't making a meaningful discussion and asking what others think. They're going "You guys suck and you need to listen to me you idiots." On top of that, making more and more threads to shove their opinion down our throats.
Why so many Steam posts exist where people just can't be civil and instead resort to being aggressive is genuinely concerning. Why are so many people attention-seeking and need people to listen to them and cry when things don't go their way? I really can't look at Steam discussions anymore because every game has something like this.
Why are you so adamant about defending censorship for things that aren't needed?
If they are willing to censor something as miniscule as this, where there was never a public outrage, not even a minor outrage, what do you think they're capable of doing later?
Censorship for the sake of censorship, that's not something anyone should get behind.
Also, you can look at my account to see that I not only have Sonic X Shadow, I wrote a glowing review of it. I can really like a game a lot and want to stop the nonsense. Again, the nonsense is: Censorship for the sake of censorship.
I disagree that there is ever a need to defend it. You like this game, I like this game. You like Shadow X, I like Shadow X. But if you're talking about censorship for the sake of censorship, because a minority of human beings want to go whims and reshape work of people before them, I can't be apart of that. Who assigned these people the morality police? I think they're scum bags who are hurting the gaming industry, and dividing gamers at the same time.
These are the same type of people who constantly feel the need to inject their current day politics in games. It's not hard to understand why. Kids play games, and kids are easier to propagandize. The younger you are, the less stuff has to make sense. Kids will believe in Santa Clause, so as we get older and call out the nonsense of these ideologies, they target the kids and want us to die off, in hopes of their ideology can survive.
It's actually evil.
I wanna say though, for Sonic Generations itself, I personally think the new censored things aren't actually bad. Rouge being more covered up is something I don't really mind. I'm not focused on Rouge or thinking about her too much in this game. Amy is someone who is still supportive but isn't stalker-like or obsessive to the same creepy degree or being the butt of a joke, yet it shows she still loves and cares for Sonic.
Voice line delivery is another thing though, as I don't like the new voice direction in some instances, but I do prefer a lot of the new dialogue, especially for Sonic and Tails. I like that their focusing less on comedy at the expense of other characters, and more on their friendship.
