XBOX controller no longer works

Hey guys, I played Sonic Generations before and the controls were sometimes buggy but overall it was fine. Now after reinstalling the game the controls didn't work, and after checking the configuration I can map everything except the left and right triggers. I had to fiddle with enabling XBOX controllers in steam preferences. Any idea whats causing this? I didn't have this issue before...

No, I just gave up because I had already 100%ed the game and figured it wasn't worth the effort. I wanted to play the Unleashed Project Mod but this put an end to that :(

Yeah, I tried that when I was trying to repair the game. It did nothing.
