How do I press start?
I can't get passed the opening screen because I can't find the start button. I've hit every key and none do anything.

Navigate to Sonic Generations in the Steam Library.
Click the big green Play button.
You will have a small dialog box open up. Select Configure before pressing the Play button on that.

In the dialog box that appears click the Input Configuration button on top. You will see an Input Type dropdown. Select the kind of controls you would like to use (i.e. Keyboard or XBOX 360 Controller for Windows). If on Keyboard, click the buttons that correspond to the controller buttons then press the desired key when prompted to register it. Or to use the default bindings click Reset to Defaults.

When done, press the Save and Quit to save the configuration.

Now try relaunching the game and press the key or button bound to Start when the game prompts you to.

I normally use a controller, and when I opened the configuration for some reason the keyboard bindings were all blanked out, but Reset to Defaults restored them.

Man, there really is no better way to tell you what to do though. For real. Press the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ start button on your controller. I’m not even trying to be funny. That’s how you do it.

If you’re on a keyboard it’s probably the space bar or enter key, or possibly the escape key. But on a controller it’s literally the button called the start button.

I'm not using a controller, I'm using the keyboard, you know like on a PC? And I already stated I tried every button.

The fact you responded so quickly suggests you really need to get a life. As does your cringe-inducing profile.

Jesus Christ dude, what’s your problem?

Why do you feel the need to call my profile cringe…? You’re the guy who doesn’t know how to press a button

Please stop responding, you're already blocked. Go and troll somewhere else, loser.

How do I do that exactly? I googled it and it said something about a configure option in the Steam client but I can't find it. I'm thinking Steam have updated their client since.

Usually its Enter I think.
Go to the config tool to check your bindings.

My friend wonders if you’ve found the start button yet?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
