I found out when trying to use the directional pad instead of the analog stick on the controller, this way Espio plays Sonic with more momentum, allowing the last wall to be overcome. I don't know how to do it using the keyboard, but I managed to pass with an S Rank.
THANKS! Weirdly enough, this worked for me. Using the D-pad (in my case, on and Xbox One controller) inexplicably makes Sonic swing and let go a lot faster and farther - somes times, even too much. But it worked to finally finish this level (got an A, but could easily get an S).
This challenge and this whole mechanic is absolutely terrible and pretty much unplayable without relying on weird glitches, definitely a buggy mess that managed to get into the final game. I wonder if (and how) they'll fix it on the new remaster.
Espio Classic is much more annoying. Just for that final jump you have to do, and if you fail to do it fast enough, you miss the S rank and have to redo everything.
Can't say i relate there, you must have gotten a really lucky run cause i spent the better part of an hour trying to get the last jump with espio but the vector challenge only took a couple attempts for me to S rank, wish we had our luck in those challenges switched lol
Couple others on this thread mentioned it being easier using d-pads so maybe the controller that you use makes a night and day difference. i used a wired xbox 360 controller and just could not get the momentum required with it. Maybe ill experiment with other controllers next time i play. And pleased to meet you too fellow goji enjoyer
So, apparently you unlock What I'm Made Of with Red Rings. NVM.
