Won't stop doing grind step when playing as modern sonic on 1st level.

Basically when I get a little bit into the level sonic will NOT stop somersaulting into the corner of something. I may get lucky and be able to escape but it's no use as I just keep getting stuck again. Please, if you can help me in any way it would be very appreciated. And i know I've mapped all of my buttons correctly, maybe it's a problem with the X/Y axis? I don't know.

Not sure if this is on time, but had this issue and managed to fix it by using x360ce to map my controller instead of the in-game config, specifics here on 1.1 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=229268193

Thanks, glancing at that I should have probably have used x360ce awhie ago, but never wanted to go through the hassle. I might use it when I feel up to it in a little bit.
