How to Run FM12 [Wont work for everyone] on Windows 10/11

Most important thing is we need to know if our computer has hypervisor. If it doesn't. You road ends. Sadly. However maybe one day you'll have a computer than can and then you're back on the road.

Simple, this is a computer within a computer.

First check if your computer has hypervisor. How to do that: press the Windows key + R, in the text box write in msinfo32 and OK. A window will pop up and at the bottom it will hopefully say for you hypervisor detected or a simple yes.

Now we need a program called VirtualBox: https://www.virtualbox.org/

I didn't use Ubuntu. I downloaded a windows 8.1 ISO. Used my key from my old laptop that doesnt work. And I was in. How you get a windows key for windows 8.1, its up to you. I dont really know how much I can say about that on here. But good luck with it.

When setting up the virtual box click Guest Addition. I forgot to and my mouse lags sometimes and it can be very annoying. Defo click that.

If you need help with installing Windows 8.1, plenty of good videos on youtube.

You will likely need to download d3dx9 to run the game: https://www.dll-files.com/d3dx9_41.dll.html

You can connect your USB, optical drives within the virtual box, which is how you install FM12.

Hope this helps. I've been playing for a month now, 5 years into one of my save games. Not happy with the regens so I've recently started again. Already got a regen better than any regen in them 5 seasons XD

My FM12 worked till 1 month ago. I checked integrity of game files and it stopped working. When I run the game. It collapse after several seconds and doesnt run at all. I have supervisor there..

Yeah, when I'd load more than 1 league it'd crash before loading. Well before I did the virtualbox. Inside of that it's never crashed for me.

The game isnt on the Steam website I believe unless you already bought it there. If you already bought it there, can you go on the Steam website and download it that way?

I am having the same issue with the game not launching.I usually play in offline mode
(it won't launch from there either).It was working a week or so ago but after
uninstalling and reinstalling Steam over another issue it simply will not launch anymore.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game three times now and each time Steam tries to
update the exec file without success.I have done the file integrity check three times as
well.I have read elsewhere that antivirus programs can sometimes quarantine files but
that is not the case here.What I did notice was that the game had not been added
automatically to the firewall permissions (unlike Football Manager 2017 which I have
recently reinstalled with no problems) so I added it manually.Still nothing.

It is intensely frustrating to be locked out of a game that I have paid for and was
working fine before the Steam reinstall.

My only question is why would Steam need to update an exec file for a program that
it has just reinstalled itself with the latest patched version?.

I bought my copy boxed via retail.And i have hypervisor on my computer.

Is there any news on this topic? It's already very disappointing not to be able to play FM25... that I wanted to play previous versions of the game... and I can't either!
