Do they make a fishing rod that works with Sega Bass Fishing?
Hello I was wondering if they make a fishing rod controller that works with this game? I know they have a fishing rod controller for Bass Pro-The Strike, but I don't know if it works with SBF. Any input is appreciated.

If someone has it and can test it, that'd be cool to know. It's always nice to see what other controllers could work with this game, especially ones made for said sport.

nothing will ever beat playing the original on DC with the legit rod

Well, the original arcade version did beat the DC version since the rod was actually mechanical and not just force-feedback, but yeah, it's not the same game without a rod controller.

Guessing no one here has tried it with the Strike Rod before? http://www.amazon.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Strike-Fishing-Xbox/dp/B002HT8MJI I am looking for a good rod to use for this this version of this game.

i got this working with my 'the strike' rod, no cast function but my rod may be broken

the rod has never worked in 6 years on my pc, i decided to dig it out for 1 last try, and noticed that 'the strike' was available on steam, so i purchased that

now, when i plugged in the controller, the drivers did not install properly(usb2) so i plugged into USB3, and even though it thrown an error about not working with USB3, it installed the correct driver, and shown up as a controller in devices and printers, xbox button brought up steam dashboard, all lights on, however, when checking the properties, the X and Y rotation did not work, X being the reel

so, i fired up the strike, again the controller would not cast, but when i exited the game, i noticed the X axis had come alive in properties, so i calibrated the rod, this time X asis worked, but Y would not(i suspect this is the cast function) but, the reel now worked, and could be bound in the bass fishing pre game options

the rod now works with the game, the reel works, you aim and jig with the analogue stick(well come back to this later) and cast with the under handle trigger, but no vibration or FFB, im reading there is a vibration issue where its not working in game any, and again, i wasnt sure if the FFB reel worked, because it never has, so the next step was to try and get those working.......... xpadder was my friend here

xpadder installed, and standard config with reel bound to R trigger, clicking on the right trigger enabled other options, with an advance tab, this reveals the 'rumble' option, turning this on made the reel FFB work, but not in the intended manor, once the FFB engaged, it would not turn off, so a constant reel in action was now on, the weight of that action depended on the rumble settings, and it doesnt matter what i do, i cannot get the action to stop when the fish is caught, again, i think this could be a defect/bug with in the rumble signal from the game

so the last thing was to try and make the rod more real ha, moving the rod left makes it go left instead of moving the analogue stick left, so i pondered over an old mod i did to an dreamcast rod back in the day and fit tilt switches to the analogue input, but then it dawned on me to attach a heavy object to the analogue stick itself(should have thought of this 12 years ago ha), so which ever way the rod was moved the weight would move the stick in the same direction at the same time....... works like a charm!!!! pulling the rod up now does the same action ingame, even jigging with the popper is epic stuff, im once again well n truely hooked hahaha

the weight i used was a..... hmmm, herbal grinder, metal type, (it weighs 60 grams) lets be honest, who goes fishing without a herbal grinder? hahahahaa, i used blu - tack to attach the top half of the grinder to the analogue stick,

other than the missing cast feature, its now better than the DC version

one last thing, after messing about with xpadder, sometimes you will have to start 'the strike' to get the x and y axis to register, just start the game until the loading screen and then exit out, check the axis is working in properties and start SBF babeh......... theres a big 1 close by ;)

Late to the debate :
According to the manual of both Bass and Marine, there is an USB version of the Dreamcast fishing rod or a third party variant.
But I didn't find it so I don't what the manuals are talking about.

Some programming genius needs to write a patch that puts rumble into ALL controllers
God i wish there was a controller as good as the DC rod, seriously the best gaming peripheral i've ever used.

Also i wish we had more crazy fishing games.

This can technically be accomplished by converting game rumble data to simulated haptics via ion-tampering-facilitated CNS electricity replacement that affect hands/arms. I'm sure there are workgroups that have that tech available and perhaps use that tech in private, and sometimes use that tech to '♥♥♥♥ with' people. Ion tampering-facilitated electricity replacement is location agnostic within the greater EM field. "Q classified" garbage used by organized criminals who backdoored the DoD in the 50's.

Even later to the debate :
So I’ve been hunting for a rod for Sega marine fishing with no luck from what I can gather from the manual there was a mad catz rumble rod that used usb1 but I can’t find anything online about it. I’m wondering if you could use a Dreamcast or n64 version with an adapter, if anyone has these things and wants to try and report back would be much appreciated!

I've had a Dreamcast fishing controller I bought many years ago at a garage sale and ever since Sega Bass Fishing came out on Steam I've been looking for a way to possibly use it through an adapter.

Has anyone tried using the Raphnet Dreamcast-to-USB adapter? https://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/dreamcast_usb_adapter/index.php

The page says it's compatible with the official Sega fishing controller so I'm curious...

I do seem to remember the Dreamcast having one. The amount of gizmos for Dreamcast seemed toi rival even the original NES.
