Whats up with Cultural Osmosis?
It makes allegiances meaningless as you don't take any public order penalties with this tech researched. I don't even have to worry about rebellions at all anymore.

Iirc it's a percent reduction to PO penalties from allegiance, not a complete nullification.

No, its a hundred percent reduction, look again. I have no more public low issues from low allegiance.

Indeed a 100% reduction seems a bit too much.

I checked and you're right. I forgot it was 100% reduction.

It is possible of course for someone to research other things. After Osmosis tech you end up at the end of that branch.

It's cost effective if dealing with other Allegiances is a prime factor for the player. Depending on playstyle and strategy, there are going to be other branches on the tree people race to research instead.

Its more than cost effective, it means you almost get no more rebellions. Which means you can free up armies and resources, which you can use to conquer more land. Its overpowered, and should have nerfed.

Just getting rid of it completely would be fine with me.

I don't know if CA is planning to support this game anymore, but maybe posting this issue on their official forums could get their attention.

The way I took their latest dev blog, they're moving on now to the next Saga title. The January 14th update seems to be the last one, addressing bugs, but the Steel and Statecraft changes sound like they're final.

I'm thinking I might just roll back to Allegiance patch, or even the one just before, because the system seemed the most challenging then. The last patches introduced some nice things, but it also made other things easier, like high building incomes, and replacement of the original unit pool spawn rate mechanic with a cooldown mechanic.

The "Osmosis" tech is similar to all this: introduced Allegiances, which is harder, but then gave a tech to nullify it, which is arguably a lot less challenging than the original release back in May or the patch in June, where you had simply an occupation penalty.

I'm happy that CA supported TOB in fixing the bugs and even added new features and gameplay depth. I liked the challenge in the earlier allegience updates, and the game seems a lot easier now.

It is as you say, kind of pointless to add a mechanic and then a way to almost completely remove it via a tech.
