Welsh Longbow
Get it right Total War: The Longbow is a Welsh made weapon.
The longbow was invented by the Celts in Wales around 1180 C.E. but was not really used by the English military until the 1300s. The longbow is an incredibly strong piece of wood roughly 6 feet tall and 5/8 inch wide. The wood would be preferably yew, which was hardened and cured for 4 years for best results.

Depends on how you define longbow.

If you just mean a tall, self bow, then most every Northern European culture had them, including the Norse, Anglo-Saxons and other Germanics, as well as the other Brythonic Celts. The Gaels do appear to have used shorter bows, but then again so did the Welsh: the Welsh short bow is well attested.

Now, if by "longbow" you mean the very powerful warbows of the type used at Poitiers or Agincourt, that is not attested for the Welsh at such an early period as the game will be set.

The long warbow with the very high draw weight used in the English forces (the "Welsh longbow") doesn't appear to have developed until the later 13th century, as armor became better engineered and more widely available to lower class fighters.
