Fighting Pits

Does anyone know how to get the XP awarded to yout troops with a fighting pit/wrestling arena in the province?
I only ask because I had an army garrisoned in a city that had the fighting pits built, and none of the units got any XP at all.
So I'm either doing it wrong, or it's broke.

It seems to only affect the actual citys garrison defenders not any armies you have stationed there. If you look at the province panel and look for the button that shows you the garrison troops (not your army) you should see they are gaining veterancy.

Now I dont know if your army not getting veterancy is intentional or not but I would assume they are probably meant to otherwise the fighting pit is abit useless (although I still build them because they look cool)

They just need to be in the province. I don't know why that isn't happening for you, it's not by design.
