Mide Campaign Advice
So, I've just started a Mide campaign, and following the story, I declared war on Dyflin and took their capital on Ireland. However, they also have their stronghold on a small island in the sea, and I know that non-Viking factions suffer "seasickness" (attrition, I assume) when crossing deep water. Should I take the risk and finish them off, or should I deal with some of my more ornery neighbors in Ireland and thus consolidate my holdings, then deal with Dyflin later when I have a larger 40-man army (and some navel-crossing tech or building, if it exists)?

take them out, there is a minor settlement north of province capital. take that and you can recover the attrition you suffered,

And I'm not at risk of some uppity rival declaring war on me while my king is away on campaign? At least two of my neighbors have terrible relations with me.

there is always that chance, just send one army, it should be enough

A failed Mide campaign was the first thing I did in ToB. It's been a while, but I seem to remember not finishing them off and they became a PITA.
Well, doesn't matter now; another minor faction dropped a doomstack on their capital, and that was the end of that. Now, I'm waging a multi-pronged war against two factions (they aren't allies to each other), Connacht and Breifne. Normally, Aileach would be helping me (we're military allies), but they're dealing with their own upstarts from Ulaid. Think I'll reset back a few turns and accept the peace treaty Connacht offered me (before Breifne declared); when I turned it down, I had a sneaking feeling I would regret it. :)

Just in case you're still struggling:

Diplomacy is key with Mide, don't go for all out wars to the death. Go for shorter strategic wars, and sign peace treaties for lots of money (especially if the AI offers peace don't just accept but see how much they're willing to pay for it).

Additionally, by declaring war on a faction's vassal, their military allies don't join the war. So if you want to hit Aileach later on for instance, you could declare war on their vassal kingdom. That way any military or defensive allies Aileach has will stay out of the conflict.

I also made a guide on the legitimacy mechanic for Mide if you're struggling with that:
