Mod recommendations?
I love the setting and art design in this total war but sadly its incredibly easy and quickly becomes boring. Are there any Mods floating around that improve this? Particularly regarding the AI armies as they're mostly useless and don't seem to be rebuilt upon defeat.

The first thing to try to make it less easy is to play Legendary difficulty.

Not only does that have no buffs for the player (like Easy or Normal), but AI buffs and aggressiveness are maxed. Most importantly though, there is no "save scumming" (making and accessing manual save points). The game will play very differently when you're forced to use only autosaves.

Also, I would recommend not auto-resolving battles, as that allows for very easy wins and fast casualty replacement.

Granted, playing out every single battle could get a little tiring, but imo any battle where the enemy is not outnumbered 3.5 : 1 or greater should be manually resolved if you want the AI to present more of a challenge.

Thanks for the Reply and sound advice :) I do tend to auto-resolve a little too often in this game if i'm honest.
Have you tried the Radious mod?
No problem. I haven't tried Radious for Thrones. I tried it for Rome 2 and didn't like it.

Wouldnt try Radious tbh.

Imo Radious is a little industry by itself meanwhile and he pushes out "overhauls" to every TW game. ToB he clearly didnt play enough himself (or even enjoyed), he just has a standard plan how to mod every TW title with spamming new units and changing AI behaviour and so on.

But he didnt put soul into these mods, its work for him and you feel it. With that he makes things worse in the games. Like i said, my opinion.

There are mods who make a better challenge like better AI recruitment, aggressive AI, The Last Kingdom playing as Uthred of Bebbanburg is really hard at the start for example.

Hey, I've long appreciated your recommendations on this board, ever since Thrones Britannia first came out. You and a few others really helped me get up-to-speed on the modern TW system. TB has been my first since Medieval II.

What are your reservations about the Radious mod?

Does Gefr.Löring.363VD sum it up for you too? I am prone to agree if what he says is true, it sounds like it's just another form of vanilla.

I'm reinstalling TW:TB to get back into it, I've missed it. I'm interested, but not completely sold on using mods. The last DLC still feels new to me because I started playing on the Day1 release. So, I think I'll do a couple of vanilla playthroughs before I test any mods.

But it looks like Radious is a respected, recurring mod for the TW franchise. Is there a reason for your reservations about using on TB that you'd care to share? I'd be interested your mod insights. Are there any mods you use personally?

Thanks!

Thanks for your thoughts, it sounds like I'll stay away from Radious. Would you care to name any specific mods you'd recommend that makes the campaigns any better?

I'm just getting back into it and may try overhauls later. I can't really think of any problems I'd look for a mod to solve, ATM. But maybe after a couple of playthroughs.

Its always just personal taste and there are many more mods which are doing great things. I dont use them all together and like switching.

- Longer Land Battles Mod (i like long battles)
- Wider Formation Mod (looks way better in brawl to watch the animations)
- Zinn: Militarized AI
- Zinn: Longer campaign movement (Damokles Schwert ;)
- The Last Kingdom (immersive)
- Diplomatic & Occupations Options
- Manic's Expanded Factions
- 12 Turns per year Mod (for me essential)
- Longer T2 duration (wish there were more of these mods)
- unique unit expansion (nice addition)
- Boiling Oil Begone (no french fries)
- Seasonal Effects (Dresden made many nice mods)
- Historical Cities and Landmarks (play & learn :)
- Minor Town Garrisons (no 1-unit raidings anymore)
- A more aggressive AI
- Global Weapons and Armor Upgrade (Im the King! and i order the fresh weapons to my armies, not vice versa)
- Shields down while marching (yeah, ofc!)

Remember to always check the compatibility, not all mods of my lists are compatible to each other. Have fun :)

I didnt mention Overhauls because you said you will look into them yourself.

Enhanced Battles, Enhanced Campaign, Sheildwall and/or any of RobbStarks Variation mods are the way to go!

Play battle on normal or hard, if you play any higher you run into BS like low tier units going toe to toe with you top tier troops and they will win..yeah, no thanks...
Sure turn everything else up like the politics and what not so they go for you more and hate you.
I guess it comes down to what specific things you want, and I'm sort-of just getting used to the DLC patches and the campaign changes they made. I dropped over 300-hours into the game before Blood DLC came out, didn't play much after it installed then basically stopped playing, always meaning to get back into it and am now.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
