Total war games are suppose to span a significant period of time. Two centuries, from 878 to 1066, is about right. It's a period of much warfare for the British Isles.
"What is the date range of the game?
It starts in 878 AD, and like other Total War games it’s over once you win! There is no set end-date, though the content in the game covers up to around 1066."
With the way they're doing almost a narrative structure to kingdom choices etc., it would make sense that the 'endgame' would be scripted invasions from off-map.
Well, actually why not (though I myself am really disappointed that for such an exciting historical period they make a petty game which covers just one tiny island) but it would indeed be a werid thing of some armies comming out of nowhere without the entire context.
Anyway, from the ToB FAQ:
"What is the date range of the game?

Whatever that's supposed to mean.
That would be great but I have serious doubts. I hope it does go at least until around 1000 Sven falls on the British Isles.
I wonder fi they are going to bring in the Kingdom of the Isles. I think that was around that time. Starting in the almost literal center of things a la Pompey's Rome in Imperator Augustus but much harder since you are not only surrounded but the ones surrounding you are not your culture.
Yes, that's the answer, thank you!
