A large Viking invasion started about turn 210 for me. I just achieved long term victory. It is actually the first Viking invasion that has a rather large force.
I know one fleet didnt make it due to the storm and I would bet good money it was the norman fleet that is supposed to hit southern england.
Edit: As someone else said, there are usually some warnings before they actually land on the island. If you see the warnings, try to raise an army up immediately and don't spare any money. You'll need the best troops you can get to defeat them.
I had to give up on Strat Cult because I had taken all of Scotland...and they spawned in the hard northwest corner of the map where I could never reach them before the gobbled up entire provinces, making them far too powerful. They're MUCH harder to predict simply because they they will appear universally wherever it is most inconvenient for you to deal with near as many undefended villages as possible.
The Danes (Dene) arrive roughly around the default spawn of Northymbre and have 5-6 full stacks
The Norse arrive where Sudreyar begins and brings also around 5-6 full stacks
The Normaunds arrive south where the very first viking fleet (the one that attacks East Engle) spawns and attacks West Seaxe, I think, always.
The Norse are by far the most dangerous ones as they are brutally heavily armored and have lvl.10 Generals to spare...
Hope I helped!
