Irish Vikings... 7 Full stacks of doom? Warning...
Is it normal for the Irish Vikings to completly wipe out Ireland, or at least half of it and be able to field several practically full stack armies?

I'm playing Scot campaign and after a foolish declaration of war on Strat Clut i've been forced to flee to Ireland like a true mad king (Aed is now 68). I made friends with one of the last remaining Irish clans..2 others are vassals of the Irish Vikings and there's one other clan in the far west that's holding up pretty solid. I decided to I would liberate the Irish slaves, one clan at a time.. so I declared war and stormed the furthest northen city, also owned by the Irish Vikings. Ireland was completely splintered in the North but owned entirely by the Vikings in the South. Within 5 turns, 7 entire Viking armies began making their way up across Ireland towards me.. I obviously don't stand a chance.. but even if I had united Scotland and forged a kingdom, I still wouldn't have stood a chance against these stacks of doom! .. Is this normal? Also.. West Seaxe completely Annexed Mierce and is like a huge superpower now only stopped by Northymbre and the last remaining loyal Welsh clan.. is that also normal?

Sounds normal based off of the one campaign I've done.

In the end it was The Irish Vikings against England (I vassalized Mierce early through an event but did not annex them)

Irish Vikings had all of Ireland and Scottland - most of Wales and I had pretty much everything else. I think the NPC nations that get events are meant to be strong. Danelaw and Irish Vikings both get events to annex smaller nations of that culture and they were very strong in the game.

I was 100 turns into a campaign with Mierce on Legendary setting and got wiped by Irish Vikings multiple 20 stacks of doom which led to a civil war and and position of no return. Ruined the game for me.

The AI trying to win? Yes, it is normal. Because the Irish Vikings have most of Ireland under their rule it's normal for the to field so many armies. When they felt their back home threatened, they sent stacks to deal with the invader and wrap up the North for good too. Wouldn't you do the same? :)
