The game does not start
When you press the start button for 1-2 seconds there is a window of preparation for the start and then disappears. That's it. No more messages, just nothing.
Who faced? What to do?
The computer meets the minimum requirements 100%.

GENERAL LAUNCHER FIX:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOR THOSE WITH ROME II:

Thrones of Britannia:

1.) Open Steam
2.) Go to Library > Games
3.) Right-click Attila > Properties
4.) Go to Local Files tab > Browse Local Files

Rome II:

Repeat steps 1-4 under Brtiannia and leave the windows side-by-side

5.) Delete the existing "launcher" folder from Britannia
6.) Copy the "launcher" folder from Rome II
7.) Paste the "launcher" folder from Rome II to Britannia

Thrones of Britannia:
8.) Open the new "launcher" folder in Brtiannia > Delete the "platforms" folder
9.) Launch Thrones of Britannia

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This allowed me to get into the launcher but there is no entry for Thrones of Britannia.

Well, I have the same problem. And if I launch Rome 2, I don't have logo of TW Britania... It's just a bad joke ! :(
vdeleporte May 5, 2018 @ 4:27am
I think I realize something important, when I instal TW Britannia, It's size 5,8 GB but in the description of the Game, they spoke about 30 GB size to the Game... Weird ! (excuse my english, je suis français)

Ok, I've tried all the suggestions, updated everything left right and center, uninstalled all my games and steam, redownloaded steam and TOB, still happens.

Oddly this was also happening to Rome II right after I downloaded the Sparta add on a few months back. Theres somthing wrong somewhere, I just can't trace it.

Same issues here, and this is also now on a fresh W7 installation... Everything worked flawlessly until a couple of months ago where Attila did the "Launching (the launcher) > CTD > Syncing" thing...

Saw others having the same problem so waited for a fix... Now a couple of months on Attila launcher isn't working, neither is Britannia; I can launch the Rome II launcher, however Attila just causes the launcher to CTD, and Britannia isn't even listed there...

Sad really...

Edit:

For kicks, does anyone else get this in eventvwr (Windows logs > Setup)?

Windows update could not be installed because of error 2149842967 "" (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Attila\redist\Windows6.0-KB971512-x86.msu" ")

and

Only just started searching, so not honed in on a potential fix; just asking out of curiosity.

I wouldn't advise downloading any *.dll files from unknown sources. That's just my 2c.

I'd probably try running Command Prompt as admin:

Type/copy/paste (without quotes): "SFC /scannow"

Press: enter/return

wait for it to finish doing its thing

Type (without quotes): "exit"

Press: enter/return

If that fails, then go to Microsoft and download the Visual C++ Redistributables from them if the ones in the Steam/game folder don't seem to work.

What worked for me was just logging out of Windows and then back in. I had to then revalidate the files because I copied the launcher from Rome 2, but then it worked.

I was so excited and yet it will not start

That didn't work for me. It's probably hit or miss whether it actually works.

Hmm, I'm not sure then. If that didn't work and replacing the launcher files didn't work, I'm not really sure what other options there are.,, I don't imagine contacting CA will help you,, hopefully someone else here has a better workaround for you. :/
