I enjoy the new, fresh approach and the new game mechanics.
As an American Philosopher once said:
"Not every game can be everything to everyone".
Buy it or don't. Play it or don't. But don't pretend to 'know' anything better, than the people making video games for the past 20 years successfully, selling them to millions of players, who do not seem to share your views.
"An army consumes supplies from its stock piles each turn and will suffer defections should its stockpiles run out. Stockpiles of supplies are replenished when in home territory or when raiding abroad."
In the Army Unit view, there is a new create icon, showing the current amount of available supplies. Next to it is the AP (Action Points) icon, which is reduced when you move.
This new game in particular is FULL of little tweaks and changes to the known TW formula.
Every character, general, etc. have TONS of individual stats, which also influence either the troops or the region. Much like in the games before, but it 'feels' like it's half way to Crusader Kings 2 territory of stats.
I specifically like the new mechanic, which deploys new troops instantly(!), but at half their size. It takes several turns either in encampment stance or dwelling inside a settlement to replenish the units to full strength.
As a player you now have the great (respons-/a)ibility to wager, if you want/need your units to meet the enemy at half your strength (because it is urgent), or if you can wait one or two turns before attacking an unknown strength opponent.
I love that.
