I think I saw somewhere on a review that they were getting 15-20% better performance than Attila, so hopefully it will be better.

A guy on Youtube did a performance test and it was about 50% better performance FPS wise. Link:

I'm wondering if the campaign map will suffer FPS drops like most newer Total War games.

when i run attila near max it really suffers in the benchmark i average around 45ish fps in game at times it feels much lower then this so i hope i can pull over 60 with this.

attila is the worst running total war game in my opinion all the others are really smooth for me. warhammer being the best. rome 2 even runs 10 times better then attila.
my system is
GTX 1080
i7 4790k
16GB ram
i am using GTX 1060 6G. however, fps is only 40 on 4k screen warhammer 2.
i think as long as u make ur resolution as 1080p and set everything on low. should run perfectly.

Me also, and Warhammer ran better than Atilla for me until it got borked a number months ago. WH2 is running better for most people than WH1 also.

We're hitting a cap in what is physically possible with hardware, so optomization is one of the few ways left to speed things up in the current state of technology. I'm hoping for some smooth battles.

Bench mark is useless in assessing FPS in this title. You have to run bigger siege battles.

dont forget that theres no blood in total war saga at the moment! the blood decals and corpses were the main reason i got into really bad fps areas!
SPECS:
GTX 1080
I7 4790K @4,7GHZ
16GB DDR 4 RAM

The benchmark tool in Thrones has a big siege battle...

I have heard many games do not use all the cores.

That was a problem with previous title's.
However, since the warhammer franchise in totalwar, they have heavily worked on this and try to fix it. Its now much better.
Just load up a recent total war in your steam and watch your cores.
But yeah, mostly the first core is most loaded.
The clockspeed of you cores still is important in most games, not how many cores you have.

but i'm pretty sure with al the more core cpu's from intel & amd, that it will be better in the future.

Then something is wrong. For me this game runs very smooth and I am especially surprised at the battles which I see no stuttering at all so far. Not sure what the FPS is, but I am running a 1080 Strix and have 36 Gig of Ram, with a Asus 8 core. I did notice that my firewall was holding things up earlier and gave the game permission which seemed to work like a charm. Try checking to see if there is something that is scanning or reluctantly giving permissions.

I got 20 fps, and further 15fps after driver update. Granted i haven't updated my driver since 2016. Lots of reviews and videos mentioned they also have great perfomance and much better than they did on Attila. So I doubt that it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. However, maybe you got unlucky and haven't had any perfomance increase. Dosn't make it untrue though.
