This sounds strangely like a few other posts on this forum...I mean kind of like the same person.

Its got just as much varity as vanilla shogun 2, but for some reason people dont like it as much.
I think alot of people dont like or have much interest in the setting, and so ddin't enjoy it as much. For me (considering I LOVE this period) its really fun! All the factions have felt sutibly unique and it includes a ton of cool new stuff like food for armies e.c.t.
I like that though, to many total wars a way too easy because of garrisons. Plus it makes sense as during this time period it took a long time to respond to an attack.
Small armies patrolling your borders. And/or buffer states.
