more intuitive and flexible rotation tools are also something tsuna mentioned once.
undo is not available unfortunately so make sure to save before and after major changes or periodically. a rework of deleting to have a selection box and a confirmation method (hold RMB 1sec sorta thing. annoying if deleting a lot but better than deleting what you didnt want to. longer timer for things with child grids) would be nice
Glad to hear a symmetry mode exists. One axis is fine, if I can control which one it is? Otherwise I'll just have to make sure I build on the correct orientation so I can utilize the correct lateral axis. How do you get the symmetry mode to be active?
So back to rotation... how do I change the rotation axis?
Also can you confirm it's possible to save/recall a craft design?
symmetry can be set with the symmetry tool (tools tab). i think the tools tab should be removed in favour of a PIE menu similar to what MMB does. also more MMB functionality would be nice if your reading this Tsuna ;P
Q/E rotates blocks. afaik its all local Z only with a couple exceptions like the canopy.
saving/loading blueprints is also easy. to save open your inventory and on the right there is a panel that shows the last grid you built on. wont be there if there is no active grid. saving is done from there by exporting. you can upload to to the workshop or make a local save. removing unwanted grids is also done from here as well as admin repair. loading a saved blueprint is done by activating (f) on the starter block. it WILL override any and all structures already part of that starter block's grid. also, if the blueprint does not have a starter block in it then it will also be gone when loaded.
You have people on other threads asking for a "craft lock" capability so they don't accidentally delete blocks on their craft. I'm not alone here.
I *might* be more agreeable to the RMB deletion choice if Ctrl-Z could simply undo the action. I still don't like the UI design choice though it defies the common usage. Not limited to applications either... strategy games often use RMB to display unit info. It's pretty common in both apps and games. As I type this response in Steam an RMB click displays a context menu! We are repetitively trained in the usage of RMB to display info/menus across a wide spectrum of games and apps.
"Q/E rotates blocks. afaik its all local Z only with a couple exceptions like the canopy."
I'm afraid this will be the deal killer for me.
Will continue to follow development here, but going to have to punch refund on this one before I have too much time logged/elapsed. ...at least until I hear the editor is usable.
Might still hold out for a bit... the game seems like it has a lot of potential. I just can't really invest any time in craft creation if I can't rotate the wedges/pyramids in a way that makes sense. ...and of course, deleting things all over the place. LOL
accidentally deleting the floor isn't a bug, its a good lesson on how not to ♥♥♥♥ up, at least for me it was. the tutorial is kinda useless, you could have just walked outside or idk turned on your jetpack and flew through the tutorial
That depends on what floor you delete. In my case I fell though the floor and using a jetpack didn't help, and there was no obvious way to restart the tutorial. In any case, the structure should have been protected from being deleted and more work put into the tutorial and build controls. With the other game quirks, making it so easy to delete a floor without any kind of warning pretty much exceeded my patients for this game. This is the only building game with a tutorial that didn't have a restricted build area.
The game looks promising, but I'm not going to touch it again in its current state. There were far too many issues, and that was the last straw for me.
I will continue to stay away...
I do agree on the point that the tutorial area should be indestructible though, except maybe for a small area where deleting blocks would serve an educational purpose as part of the tutorial.
Is rotation working in all directions now? ...like I want to attach a wedge inverted to the bottom of something?
Perhaps some improvements have been made.
