It's really embarrassing to see all these racist kids pretending to be outraged about artistic integrity. Blackface has been offensive for long before "SJW culture" was a thing. If Amanita has been thinking about that, they wouldn't have designed Chuchel that way in the first place. You say it's just a cartoon... well, cartoons and caricatures were a big part of blackface too. Stop letting your insane paranoia about SJWs run your life. You're making a huge deal out of nothing. They changed one detail.

I assume by leftie you mean centrist. The division you see on this forum is from the people (kids in their minds, if not in age) who threw a fit when the color changed. The people who pointed out to Amanita that the character resembled blackface, on the other hand, did not give Chuchel a mixed rating on Steam out of protest, nor did they clog up the forum with complaints that have nothing to do with the content of the game. If you actually believe that these people (the ones creating the uproar by protesting the change) are genuinely upset about a character in a 10 dollar game of cute vignettes being orange, you made it 55 years without learnig a damn thing. It is virtue signaling, and what's worse, is it's virgue signaling that loudly claims it's against virtue signaling. It's aggressive hypocrisy and it's immature.

There's no tokenism or pretentiousness in saying that blackface is offensive. Characters have been altered because they looked too much like blackface EVER SINCE blackface stopped being practiced.

Yes, the color changed. If the people reacting to the change are adults, as you say, and not children, they had the ability to take it in stride. They didn't. They are immature, and yes, many of them are probably racist. Design changes are patched into games all the time and no one gets nearly this excited. Ask yourself why.

So, I made a thread in this forum called "The real problem with the color change" where I explained the problem with it. And if you read through that, you'll see that the problems with the color change run much deeper than you may think.

Exactly, it isn't about Chuchel, and regurgitating simplistic "racist" slogans as a response gives the pushback here even more impetus, not less.

Hiding the golliwog in a paper bag wasn't a solution to the problem it claims to repair. The act of needing to do so because "someone" said is the problem.

If a simple "black", originally sinless (and that includes the golliwog), virtual character has a "racial" connotation, what of yellow? Brindle? Light chocolate brown?

Well, the topic post has already been flagged as “flame posting”. But I don’t believe the post was created with the sole intent of “provoking an angry response”, so I’m not wanting to delete or lock the thread. But there are Steam moderators locking different topics on the Chuchel boards, so it’s not entirely up to me.
