Me? A racist? A kid? I'm a 55 year old leftie that has dealt with more racial issues for and with victims of racism than you've ever seen. I educated them, they educated me.
From them I can tell you that your pretentious tokenism does nothing more than hide racism behind gift wrapping and ribbons and it creates resentment from all sides, left and right. It doesn't "fix" it.
I just wish the whole lot of you would just shutup, you're not helping end racism, you're turning it into a dangerous idealogy.
Am I wrong? Ask yourself why we're all here now.... Look at the locked threads, the hate, the division.
When you've done that, tell me what colour Chuchel was when you bought it.
There's no tokenism or pretentiousness in saying that blackface is offensive. Characters have been altered because they looked too much like blackface EVER SINCE blackface stopped being practiced.
Yes, the color changed. If the people reacting to the change are adults, as you say, and not children, they had the ability to take it in stride. They didn't. They are immature, and yes, many of them are probably racist. Design changes are patched into games all the time and no one gets nearly this excited. Ask yourself why.
You *will* get this. Maybe not today but hopefully not before it's too late.
Every success in combating racism ever was achieved by doing the opposite of this.
So, I made a thread in this forum called "The real problem with the color change" where I explained the problem with it. And if you read through that, you'll see that the problems with the color change run much deeper than you may think.

Don't pressure literally like that, you'll give some people the mean to flag you and close another thread as soon as possible. Just sayin' ~
Hiding the golliwog in a paper bag wasn't a solution to the problem it claims to repair. The act of needing to do so because "someone" said is the problem.
If a simple "black", originally sinless (and that includes the golliwog), virtual character has a "racial" connotation, what of yellow? Brindle? Light chocolate brown?
"But Chuchel looked like a minstrel". Yep, and he still does. An orange one.
What colour do we stop at? Oh... I know. White. That's representative. Right?
Also, I just turned 50 myself. :)
