Combat in this game...

is absolutely terrible.
Seriously, the controls are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I have been trying for half an hour to win the first big fight on the beach, but always, some aspect of the controls leaves me shouting at the screen.

♥♥♥♥ this game. Worst Bioware game ever.

Maybe you need a bottle of Get Good™. I found the game easy as hell on Xbox, if its the fact that you're using a keyboard, well that's your problem.

wow if you guys are really complaining on its two hard to beat the game then its not the controls its u this game is so easy and fun and if ur haveing that much trouble then change up with controls or hook up a 360 controller otherwise stop complaining

Well, it's more like one guy complaining but he ran away in shame a long time ago. Jade Empire is easy on the hardest of difficulties if you aren't a complete moron. Normally I'd ignore such posts but Jade Empire is one of my favorite titles of all time...And a reminder of the current sham that is Bioware.

The controls are smooth on PC (smoother imo) so it's even less of an excuse. I almost forgot I was still subscribed to this discussion however...

OP - no worries, as someone who has played many of the old bioware games without issue I totally agree, I tried over an hour without sucess on the beach, so it's not just you and I gather it's a lot more folks. Perhaps if we had a controller vs. keyboard and mouse, but of course if someone mentioned that they might be helpful and that just doesn't happen on internets.

Try reading. He didn't ask for help. Not even remotely. He also recieved plenty of advice on top of the mocking he rightfully deserved. Blocking, dodging...It's not that hard. Stop trying to play the hero when you aren't even in the right context, Hex.

Well, while i do agree the controls can be abit wonky sometimes, the game however is one of the best out there and while i can be one of those 'swearing at the screen' type of players, i however can admit that i just outright suck at the game.

I used to love CoD, but when it turned into what it is now, i just don't like it now, i prefer the traditional CoD, you know, the first game, that game was brilliant, the follow ons, just got worse and worse.

I hope you know, i believe, the spirits are vulnerable to chi or whatever the fighting thing is, normal stuff will do nothing to them.

Did you remeber to grab Dawn Star before going to the beach? The first time I played I left Her behind and soundedly beaten. Bring her with you and the fight is much easier.

Actually the controls seem rather friendly on keyboard and mouse. Haven't tried higher difficulties than Master yet but so far the combat in Jade Empire is most fun I had in an RPG in ages

They are rather well done. I don't know why some people are complaining about them. Also, did you download the Jade Empire Complete mod? Or something of that nature in name. Adds a lot without really changing the core of it. More variety in fighting styles and morphs is about it.

Nah, I do my first playthroughs in vanilla but am really looking forward to the JE in Style mod, looks effing awesome

It is a really nice touch. Shows that the cult-community of Jade Empire really wanted to keep it going. A lot to tinker with. I'd like to see a Jade Empire 2 by Obsidian. I think they'd do it justice if given the time they should be given (KotOR II was great even though they were bumrushed by stupid LucasArts).

If Bioware announces a sequal...May the Gods help us all...

Jade Empire is painfully easy and the combat is pretty smooth, as well as simple. The controls are responsive unless you're getting hit. Anybody that doesn't like being babied by a game has to set the difficulty up to be challenged. You're just bashing the game because you can't accept that you're terrible at it.
