Fix Fail to find Steam

Instead of having to download cracked .exe files, simply copy/paste your steam.dll from your steam folder into your game folder. Voila.

Make sure your you have a copy of 'Steam.dll' in your JadeEmpire install folder. You can find the steam.dll in your main steam install folder, for example C:\Steam. Just right click on it and copy. Go to your Jade Empire folder and right click, paste. While you're in the JE folder, make sure you also have 'steam_app_id.txt' in there as well.

If you're getting an error other than "failed to find steam" then post it and i might be able to point you into the right direction. Otherwise, just double check that everything is put where it belongs.

Running on windows 10. I copied Steam.dll and the failed to find steam window went away. Now the configuration window pops up then closes.

This works for me, although the config utility still crashes on launch (just a bit later).

Copying steam.dll was the perfect solution for me. Thank you for your help!

ty worked so well like AWESOME i put the file in my steam apps jade empire folder then i changed to widescreen and correct resolution happy trails

I tried following the directions above and instead of getting the "can't find Steam" error it tried to open the configuration launcher and then just quit. But when I opened the application from the file folder it launched fine. Very weird.

I added the path for Steam to the path environment variable in Windows (that way, I won't run with an old dll in case it is updated), but also had to start the game by running JadeEmpire.exe directly from the installation.

I copied the dll into Jade Empire folder before, but then I tried your method, and it works fine for me. Now I can play JE without having copied steam.dll in JE Folder, and I can play the game, both by double clicking jadeempireexe and also from Steam Library. Thanks.

but you need to start it from the game folder

the EA version is still buggy and crash on my amd system. =(
