Enter Spirit Cave, Emerge in Previous Save

Yeah. That's a thing.

I loaded up my game, and went to talk to Master Li. He shows me the entrance to the cave, I walk in, there's a loading screen and then I'm right back to that save.

-I return to that save even if I have created a new save between then and speaking to Master Li.
-I have already tried running Steam as administrator.

My laptop is running on Windows 10.

Edited to Add:
-Tried reloading from a previous save, no joy.
-Tried deleting the problematic save, it says I don't have adminstrative permission, despite the face that I do.

Another Edit:
-Tried to create a new character. Bugged save appears in new character's file. I can't save in new characters game.

I don't even know at this point.

Are you using a controller? It's possible that you're stuck moving in a certain direction when entering that cave, and so you're automatically turned around. Though I'd think if that were the issue you'd have come across it by now, hard to say. Also, if that were the problem you'd probably be seeing multiple load scenes.

Did you happen to install Steam in either of the ProgramFiles directories? If, so that could be contributing to at least some problems, for this game and perhaps others. Never do that, and never install into the default directory (which nearly always is one of the ProgramFiles) unless nothing else works.

If the save you're using is corrupt then you'd need to try a previous save from a different slot. Using a save between then and speaking to Master Li, especially if it's the same slot, won't help any if it is actually corrupted.

Did you ever find a fix? I'm having what may be the same problem. I'm in imperial city just finished collecting the bounty for fading moon and received the quest for mournful blade. I saved the game at that point and quit. When I started up from that point to play again I started experiencing the following problems.

-When I try to enter a new area it reverts to my last save.

-When I try to create a new save it doesn't appear after the game shows me the loading screen and tells me the save is complete.

-when I try reverting to an older save the same problem exists in the older saves. The game just reverts to whatever save I'm currently in. (I've gone as far back as two rivers at the very beginning of the game and the problem is the exact same)

-I have tried adjusting video settings will no luck (that worked for solving the two pirates blocking gao the greater glitch so i'd figured i'd give it a try)

-I tried reinstalling steam

-just about anything that brings up a load screen will revert me back to the location of the last good save. I can't make any new saves or enter any new areas. I can only access the saves that already exist in the game.

-My PC is running windows 10
-I have already set the game to run as admin to fix the startup glitch
-like I said above I used video settings to work around the two guards at pirates lair glitch

PC activity between the time the game worked well and started doing this.
-I deleted the steam setup folder and other junk in my downloads as part of clearing space on my computer
-I installed software for a new backup hard drive on my computer.
-I did a restart to complete install of driver software for some bluetooth headphones

EDIT: I also did update windows 10 but I did that after the glitch started so I don't think it is related.

EDIT: I checked the gameplay log in the games file folder today and found the following message-

If anyone has a fix or insight on what might be causing this I'd really appreciate since I've already invested 13hrs into this playthrough.
