Can't join local co-op
Picked up the game recently to play local co-op with my wife on our steam link, but for the life of me I can't seem to get a second player in at the summoning stone. I've tried using an x360 pad, an Xbox one pad, a switch pro and a steam controller, no luck. I really don't want to have to refund the game. Any suggestions?

Your suggestion to try switching characters helped, but maybe not in the way either of us expected. When I tried switching characters and couldn't, it clicked that being on a horse might actually be the problem. I was not aware that being mounted would prevent me from using the interact command, but once I tried switching horsemen and that didn't work either, it all came together. Thanks for having patience with my super dumb mistake!

Oh no! I should have thought of that, too!
I'm glad you were able to figure it out. We wanted to allow players to interact even while on the horse, but it was complicated to do so late in development! Apologies for the confusion!

Happy Gaming!

FloodSpectre,

We’re sorry about the difficulty! Just to make sure all the bases are covered, I’ll go through the steps.

1) Go to the summoning stone
2) Interact with the summoning stone and select Split Screen Coop from the menu it pops up
3) The screen will split, prompting you to press a button on a second controller (you will need two controllers, even if player 1 is using a keyboard - you can just ignore the first controller you have plugged in).
4) Press the button on the second controller and the second player should spawn in.

Hopefully this helps. If not, what step does this stop working for you, and what exactly do you see?

Step 2 seems to be the problem. I press interact with my gamepad and nothing happens. I've also tried with a keyboard just now, still nothing. The hint text does appear at the bottom when I'm in range of the stone, but nothing I press causes a menu to appear.

Edit: tried remote play together with our PCs, still no luck.

FloodSpectre,

A prompt should appear above your character’s head when you’re near to and face the summoning stone. If that’s not happening, try swapping characters to see if that fixes it. If it still doesn’t appear, something may be up with your game files, so you’ll want to verify their integrity by following this tutorial:
