Question about the creature cores that Vulgrim sells...

Do I need to buy at least one of each kind before the normal mobs drop them? If no then I want to save my boatman's coins for something else maybe...

I do not think that the normal mobs will drop those cores at all. They are creatures from other Darksiders games and I for one have not seen mobs in Genesis dropping any of the types of cores what Vulgrim sells. Luckily if you want to upgrade the cores he sells, you only have to buy them three consecutive times. Then the cores become maxed. Some of his cores are pretty useful, such as the Gholen core and Trauma core.

Honestly mate, don't worry about maxing them quickly. You'll go WAY over the number of souls you need to buy everything by the time you finish each mission and most of the Arena. Having a wide variety of available Cores, maxed out ones especially, is more for when you start playing through again on Mayhem or Apocalyptic difficulty.

By the way, wait as long as you can before buying up the random Core packages he sells. They do run out and CAN run out before you max out on the Cores they offer, meaning you still have to go and farm them in missions. Some of them are really annoying due to the scarcity of enemies - like the Fallen Husk and the Borrower. If you have already maxed out Cores, they will not be offered as potential drops when you buy them, meaning the rarer ones are more likely to show up.

I dont think so. For me, they only run out when I maxed the lootpool from a chest but u cant get every monster core from them

Vulgrims cores only include mobs that can drop during missions - they are even named after missions and they run out only when you have all droppable cores. IMO only buy those cores if you don't have anything else to spend em on. And rare cores from Vulgrim include boss / mini-boss cores that drop during missions (like Dreadwalker).
