PETITION: PlayStation button layout.

It may seem like a small change, but it'll go long way, trust me.

Nobody likes to be using a DualShock controller with an Xbox layout.


¿Is there any way we could get PlayStation button layouts for the game?.

Please make it selectable in the menu no auto detect for DS3 users and to avoid headaches in the future when it doesn't work properly.

I'm working on precisely that, Gaters! Our first small patch will just enable our autodetect code (I've added the DS3 to our list so hopefully that works too), but we'll get a manual set in soon after.

Had to use a work around for Darksiders 1 DE where i swapped the Xbox and Dualshock prompt files around but then the game would hang in tutorials and certain events..
requiring a restart and swapping them back for that one part...
(was quite the buzzkill and time waster)


Manual selection is required for DS3 users like me as how i get my Dualshock 3 to work on 99% of games is to trick my PC into thinking it's an x-input controller.
So auto detect 100% of the time doesn't work for me and people that use the same method. (manual selection in the menus remedies that 9/10 times)

Don't know if you guys want to waste your time trying to make DS3 auto detect when manual is far easier like i said lots of us get around the headache by making DS3's recognise as X-input.
(if you also did Dualshock 3 instead or ontop of Dualshock 4 that would be amazing!
yes i have a DS4 but hate using it compared to a controller i used for decades and actually has a start and select button like we had for since 1980's)

We rely on Steam to detect the DS3 controller, but if that doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll need to stick to what you're currently doing. But we will at the very least get support for manually setting your controller art.

Manual is more than fine (more than most would bother with)

Ya but how does steam detect DS3? through big laggy picture mode and when not masked as
x-input?! (as PC doesn't detect DS3 without some type of program or external drivers)
if so no thanks i stay far clear of that broken mess they call big picture.
(never heard of games auto detecting DS3 on steam only DS4 and only starting with games like Arkham Knight and most if the time i see people complaining it doesn't auto detect half the time hence why manual is far more fool proof)

The Surge had an option to change from Xbox or PS layout manually, can't wait for this to happen. Appreciate Dev's taking effort to add this since not everyone is Xbox layout.

thank you soooo much. my problem was steam was forcing me to use an xbox layout, but it wont be a problem anymore if i can change them manually.

I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of playing a PC game with a proper PS4 button layout. It seems developers out there don't know these controllers exist!
My experience has always been me being stuck with playing with XBOX button layouts.

If you truly add PS4 button layouts, this would be a first for me, and I'd be forever grateful!

A few games done by good devs that don't just make lazy ports have added manual select.
(Ys 8 and the new Monster Boy had manual select but sadly most devs are either are too cheap or don't know controllers besides PS4 and xbone exist...)
