Some Ordinary Words Are Not Valid
Some ordinary words like "LATIN" are not considered valid and cannot be played:

That is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible.

lol Latin's a proper noun, no word game allows proper nouns, because literally any combination of letters can be a proper noun. Name your cat "Mjkdfhj" and then that's the same kind of word as "Latin."

you ever play Scrabble? check the Scrabble dictionary, Latin's not in it

"Latin" is a "noun" in the dictionary.
This is not Scrabble. Latin is a word that would be found in a "Paperback".
For example: Latin Lover.

Not arguing. Just making a point. And I didn't know you were the developer...

And did the instructions say what words were and were not valid?
winston Nov 30, 2017 @ 2:54pm
I would agree this should be taken up with the writer of the instructions! Just wanted to offer you some context on how the game works so you might enjoy it more. :)

Thanks. I thought if it was in the dictionary it was a valid word.

"Latino" works. Is that not a proper noun?

I never used "Latino". I never used the word "Latin" which is a noun in the dictionary.

@winston posted that proper nouns are not allowed. I don't believe "Latino" can be defined as anything but a proper noun.

I just looked up the game rules on BGG. Proper nouns are not allowed.
Neither Latin nor Latino should be allowed.

"Latino" appears to be in the official Scrabble dictionary; "Latin" is not. You're right that they're both proper nouns. "Latino" probably shouldn't be in there, but hey, "za" is a Scrabble word now.

I bet the Paperback people just dropped the entire Scrabble dictionary into their game, which, honestly, is not a bad idea.

For reference: https://scrabble.hasbro.com/en-us/tools

Edit: (on wiktionary.com, "Latin" is labeled a proper noun and "Latino" just a noun. So hey, I guess Latino's a regular noun now!)

According to the dictionary, a proper noun is defined as: "A name used for an individual person, place, or organization." I don't see how "latin" can be used to as a person's name, place or organization. But the word "latin" could be used to describe a language, which is none of the above.
